Leaving a group chat will allow you to delete it and prevent receiving new messages. Once you leave the group chat, you will no longer be able to post to the group, and you will not see any new messages that appear there. The process for leaving a group depends on the operating system you are using.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: iPhone

1. 1 Click on WhatsApp to open the application.
2. 2 Click on the Chats tab.
3. 3 Swipe right to left on the group you want to leave.
4. 4 Touch the More button.
5. 5 Click on Leave group.
   • If you do not want other members of the group to see that you have left the group, then it is better to select the "Do not disturb" mode and you will no longer receive notifications.
6. 6 Press Leave Group again to confirm.

Method 2 of 3: Android

1. 1 Tap on WhatsApp to open it.
2. 2 Go to the Chats tab.
3. 3 Press and hold the group you want to leave.
4. 4 Select additional groups that you want to leave.
5. 5 Press the ⋮ button. It can be found in the upper right corner.
   • If you do not want other group members to see that you have left the group, then it is better to select "Do not disturb" and for a while you will no longer receive notifications. The app will no longer notify you about every message, but no one will know that you are not reading.
6. 6 Click Leave Group.
7. 7 Select Exit to confirm.

Method 3 of 3: Computer

1. 1 Launch the WhatsApp app. It can be found on the desktop (Windows) or in the Applications folder (macOS).
2. 2 Click on the group you want to leave. You will find a list of groups on the left side of the window.
3. 3 Press the ∨ button under the time of the last message. This button will appear when the cursor is over the group name in the list.
4. 4 Click Leave Group.
5. 5 Select Exit to confirm.
