It's hard to watch when you have too many items, not enough items, or a mess in your bag altogether. This article will help you figure it out.

1. 1 Choose what type of bag you need to buy or make. Choose one that looks small but is roomy enough.
2. 2 Choose the things that you should carry with you every day. What things do you use (or need) often? Make a list of things or just collect them in one place.
3. 3 Think about where you are taking this bag. Especially what you might need there to do what you planned?
4. 4 Think about your hygiene and beauty treatments.
   • Estimate how much makeup you put on each day. If you use a lot of makeup or spend a lot of time outside the house, then you can carry a cosmetic bag with you in your bag. Make sure it has a small mirror in it. In the worst case, you will see if you can touch up your makeup.
   • You will still need paper napkins and a hairbrush, even if you are without makeup.
   • Would you use toothpaste, floss and brush more often if you had one at hand all the time? Think about it. This can improve your oral health.

6. 6 Take a look at the medications you are taking and put the needed ones in your bag. Your local pharmacy should have a variety of options for carrying medication.
   • If you are prone to headaches or cramps, you can keep a small packet of pain reliever in your bag.
   • If you wear contact lenses, keep their containers and eye drops in your bag. Also consider bringing your glasses with you in case the lens falls out and you can't put it back or can't find it.
   • Also carry medications that you and your family will need in an emergency, such as asthma inhalers or injections to control allergic reactions.
   • Your bag may not be the most suitable place for a full first aid kit, but add some more basic items like a pair of plasters and tweezers.
7. 7 Grab some comfort and entertainment items. Will you grab a small packet of snacks (think about where you can eat them) or a fan for hot summer days? A paperback novel? Notepad and pen? A miniature kit for needlework or painting? Take items such as these without hesitation, but choose the ones that are most important to you.
8. 8 Don't forget to take a wallet with money and ID. Also, make sure the keys to your house and car are stored there (although it is safer to keep the keys in your pants or coat pocket). It's the same with a wallet, if you carry money in it, don't take too much - in case it gets stolen.
9. 9 Reduce and consolidate. If you love to read, can your books travel with you electronically on your phone or PDA without adding weight? It would be nice to take an e-book instead of a paper one. Could you carry a multi-tasking item like a four-color pen or a multi-purpose knife? Can you wear multiple makeup colors in one or two packs and leave the rest at home?
10. 10 Don't carry too much with you! If you have a full first aid kit, take it out. You must have a handbag!

• If you have a small bag, then go through all the items and leave only those that you really need.

• You can also carry with you: Swiss knife or other multifunctional knife, books (if your wallet is large enough), mp3 player, mirror, tweezers, business cards, laptop, pen, small flashlight, pads or tampons, hand lotion, travel card for transport, address book, planner or calendar, PDA.
• Make sure you empty your bag often enough. For example, if you are using paper handkerchiefs, then do not leave old or used ones lying around in your bag. Your bag is not a trash bag.

Warnings

• If you are traveling by plane, do not carry liquids or gels in your bag (unless a quart and in a plastic bag).
• If you decide to carry a knife or bat with you, learn the laws about these things and learn how to use them.
