2 Use a dull knife to scrape off as much of the wax as possible (the back of the knife will do too). You can do this while the iron is heating.
  • 3 Now place some brown paper or paper towel over the remaining wax and iron on top.
    • Move the iron slowly, as if ironing a garment, and be careful not to burn anything. The heat from the iron will cause the wax to melt and the paper will then absorb it.
  • 4 Continue ironing until all the wax is absorbed into the paper.
  • 5 Examine the carpet for stains. If there is a wax or paint stain on the carpet, do the following:
    • Take a white cloth or rag, dampen it in rubbing alcohol and wipe the stain with it. Be careful not to soak the rug in alcohol, as this may peel the carpet off the floor.
    • Continue to wipe the stain until it is gone from the carpet.
    • Cover the wet area with a clean cloth and place books or something heavy on top to soak up any remaining alcohol on the carpet.
  • Method 2 of 2: Use a lighter and spoon

Only use this method if you don't have an iron on hand. This method is based on the same principle as the previous one, but using more conventional home remedies.

    1. 1 Freeze the wax with ice cubes. Take 4-5 cubes, put them in a bag and cover the stain until the wax freezes.
    2. 2 Then, use a knife to gently scrape off as much of the frozen wax as possible without damaging the carpet.
    3. 3 Cover the remaining wax with absorbent paper.
    4. 4 Heat the back of the spoon with a lighter for 5-10 seconds. A match will do, but it will be more convenient with a lighter, besides, with a lighter you do not risk getting burned and dropping a burnt match.
    5. 5 While the spoon is still hot, run it over the paper, over the wax stain. Be sure to place the spoon directly over the wax. Pay attention to how the paper absorbs the wax.
    6. 6 Using different pieces of paper, repeat the process with a spoon and absorb all the wax.
    7. 7 Clean any remaining wax or paint stain with rubbing alcohol or carpet stain remover. Use rubbing alcohol (method above) or carpet stain remover to remove any remaining wax paint from the carpet.
      • Take half a tablespoon of carpet stain remover and dilute with two glasses of water.
      • Take a rag and soak it in the solution, wring it out and cover the stain.
      • Wipe the stain gently with a rag and be careful not to rub the stain all over the carpet.
      • Repeat the process until you have removed as much paint as possible.

    Tips

    • Freeze the wax with ice, then scrape it off with a dull knife, place paper on top of the wax, and iron. Then simply lather the carpet with foam.
    • If your rug is made of a very delicate material such as straw or wool, consult a carpet cleaner.
