This article will show you how to temporarily or permanently deactivate your Kik Messenger account. This will require the email address associated with the account and links to deactivate Kik.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: How to Verify Your Email Address

1. 1 Launch Kik Messenger on your mobile device. Click the green letters "kik" on a white background.
   • If necessary, sign in to your account.
2. 2 Tap the icon at the top of the screen.
3. 3 Click "Account" .
4. 4 Write down your username. Do this if you want to permanently delete your account.
5. 5 Find your email address. You will need it to deactivate your Kik account.
   • If the address is incorrect, missing, or you no longer have access to it, click Email and enter a different email address. Then click “Save”, open the appropriate mailbox, find and open the email from Kik, and then click “Confirm” in the email.

Part 2 of 3: How to temporarily deactivate your account

1. 1 Go to the page https://ws.kik.com/deactivate in a web browser.
2. 2 Enter the email address associated with your Kik account.
3. 3 Tap Go! (Send). An email will be sent to your email address.
4. 4 Open the appropriate mailbox.
5. 5 Open the email from Kik.
6. 6 Tap Deactivate (Deactivate). Your account will be disabled, and a window will open asking about the reason for the deactivation. It is optional to answer the question.
   • You will no longer receive messages and emails from Kik.
   • Your username will not be searchable on Kik.
   • Your name will be removed from your friends' contact lists.
   • To reactivate your account, simply sign in to Kik Messenger.

Part 3 of 3: How to permanently deactivate your account

1. 1 Go to the page https://ws.kik.com/delete in a web browser.
2. 2 Enter your username.
3. 3 Enter the email address associated with your Kik account.
4. 4 Select the reason for permanent deletion of your account from the menu.
5. 5 Check the box. Do this next to the option "understand that [you're] permanently deactivating [your] account and [you] won't be able to login again to reactivate it" to activate it).
6. 6 Tap Go! (Send). An email will be sent to your email address.
7. 7 Open the appropriate mailbox.
8. 8 Open the email from Kik.
9. 9 Tap Permanently Deactivate (Deactivate permanently). Your account will be deleted.
   • Your account will be unavailable.
   • You will no longer receive messages and emails from Kik.
   • Your username will not be searchable on Kik.
   • Your name will be removed from your friends' contact lists.
   • You will not be able to sign in and reactivate your account. Instead, you'll have to create a new account if you decide to use Kik again.
