How to fold a paper lily

What do you need

1 Start with a square piece of paper. Fold it in half, first diagonally, and then in both directions in half like a postcard. If you are using origami paper, then let the colored side face up.

2 Fold all sides together. This is a preliminary basis.

3 Fold one side in the center. Then open it.

4 Make the center. Lift up the right-hand pocket that you just folded. Fold it in the middle so it looks like this:

5 Flip the paper over and repeat on the left side.

6 Unfold the sides and repeat the same previous steps. The sides do not need to be folded beforehand.

7 Turn the folded paper so that the small, sharp ends are facing you. Fold them in the center, then fold over the corner. Do this on both sides. Then expand both of them. Fold the top of the paper so that it touches the small ends. Bend it well.

8 Unfold, then begin uncovering the top until it reaches the fold you just made. Fold the ends of the paper inward into the pocket until you have a dot at the top.

9 Turn over and repeat.

10 The next folds will be the last ones, but a little tricky. Look at the pieces with small triangles facing up. Open the side, there will be no triangle there. Fold the sides in the middle and close so you can see the triangle again.

11 Repeat these steps on all sides where there are no small triangles.

12 When you're done, you have four petals on top. The sides with the petals folded towards the center will be outside. With a pencil or finger, you can twist these petals downward.

13 Ready.

Tips

You can make beautiful decorations this way, but it is often difficult to find good instructions on how to make a flower stem. To make a trunk:
- Find three green ribbons and tie them together at the top.
- Tie them in a pigtail until the very end.
- Tie it up at the bottom.
- Pass this braid down through the top of the lily. So much for the stem!
Make some lilies and place them nicely in a flower pot for decoration.
