1 Take a cylindrical box or lid. You can make two zootropes from the box and the lid separately, or make a thaumatrope from the second part.Tips
- You can use small strips of tape to secure the strips of paper to the box, but be careful not to upset the overall balance of the design.
- If you want, you can decorate the outside of the box by writing, for example, the title of an animated film. Use wavy and spiral lines that will look nice when you rotate the box.
- Many animated films can be made for one zootrope. Just cut some paper strips and paint them with new pictures. Remember to keep the distance between the pictures the same as the distance between the cutouts on the black paper.
- If you don't have a toy ball on hand, take any nut or stud with a round head and thread it through the box lid.
- The boxes vary in size, so find the one that works for you.
