Do you enjoy using gel but dislike all the chemicals it contains? You can make your own gel at home with just a few ingredients. When making a gel yourself, you decide what will be included in its composition, and you can also change the ingredients depending on the needs of the skin. In this article, we'll show you how to make a gel wash at home.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Castile soap wash gel

  • 1/4 cup (56.25 ml) liquid Castile soap
  • 1/4 cup (56.25 ml) chamomile tea or honey
  • 3/4 teaspoon oil
  • 8 drops of essential oil (optional)
  • A few drops of vitamin E oil (optional)

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Making a Cleansing Gel from Castile Soap

  1. 1 Find a suitable container for your cleansing gel. You can use an old bottle or jar for this. Whichever you choose, make sure the container is clean enough to close tightly with a lid.
  2. 2 Pour Castile liquid soap into a container. You will need ¼ cup (56.25 ml) Castile Liquid Soap. It should be colorless and fragrance-free. Any dyes and fragrances can irritate the skin.
  3. 3 Try adding chamomile tea to your face wash. Chamomile tea has anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce redness. If you want to use chamomile tea in your face wash, brew a glass of this product and measure out ¼ part (56.25 ml). Let the tea cool before pouring it into the container.
  4. 4 Try adding some honey to your face wash. To obtain a gel with a moisturizing effect, you must add fresh honey. You will need ¼ cup (56.25 ml). It must be liquid, translucent honey.
  5. 5 Add oil. You will need ¾ teaspoon of oil. You can use avocado, coconut, grape seed, hazelnut, jojoba, olive, sunflower, or sweet almond oils.
  6. 6 Try adding some essential oil. Essential oils can not only give your skin a pleasant scent, but are also a beneficial addition for some skin types. You will need about 8 drops of essential oil. Here are some mix options:
    • If you have oily skin, use tea tree oil or any of the following: bergamot, geranium, or lemongrass.
    • If you have dry skin, try one of the following essential oils: chamomile, lavender, rose, or sandalwood.
    • If you have mature skin, the following oils are good for you: geranium, jasmine, lavender, or neroli.
    • Make sure you are not allergic to essential oils before adding them. If you are unsure whether or not you have an allergy, apply a few drops of the diluted oil to the inside of your elbow and wait a few hours. The absence of a rash or irritation will be a sign that the oil is safe to use.
  7. 7 Add some vitamin E oil. You only need a few drops. It will moisturize and nourish your skin.
  8. 8 Close the container and shake it well. Do this for a few minutes.
  9. 9 Use and store the cleansing gel correctly. Use the cleansing gel like any regular gel. You need to store your gel in the refrigerator, as you used chamomile tea or honey to make it.

Method 2 of 2: Making a Facial Cleansing Gel with One Ingredient

  1. 1 Use fresh honey to cleanse and moisturize your face. Moisten your face with warm water. Pour some honey on your fingers and massage your face gently, avoiding the eye and lip area. Rinse off the honey with warm water and pat dry your face with a clean, dry towel.
    • For a deeper cleanse, leave the honey on your face for 5-10 minutes.
  2. 2 Use oils to cleanse your face from makeup. Prepare an oil-based mixture according to your skin type. Massage your face lightly, avoiding the area around the eyes and lips. Place a damp warm towel on your face and leave it there for one minute. Turn the towel over. This will leave a lot of oil on your face, so rinse it off thoroughly with warm water. Here are some oil blends you can try:
    • For oily skin, use 1 part castor oil or hazelnut oil and 2 parts olive or sunflower oil.
    • If you have combination skin, use 1 part castor or hazelnut oil and 3 parts olive or sunflower oil.
    • For dry skin, use pure olive, coconut, or sunflower oil.You can add a drop of castor oil or hazelnut oil.
  3. 3 Make a cleansing facial toner with apple cider vinegar and water. Apple cider vinegar is a natural antiseptic, making it an excellent cleanser. Be sure to use unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Unfortunately, apple cider vinegar contains organic acids, so you'll need to dilute it with a little water. You can then use it as a cleanser and toner by dampening a cotton swab and rubbing it over your face. Avoid sensitive areas such as the area around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Here are the proportions you will need according to your skin type:
    • For oily skin, use 1 part apple cider vinegar and 1 part water.
    • If you have normal skin, use 1 part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts water.
    • For sensitive skin, use 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water.
    • Remember to test the mixture on the inside of your elbow before using. If an allergic reaction occurs, do not apply the mixture to your face.

Tips

  • It is best to store the cleansing gel in a glass jar or bottle.
  • You can decorate the jar or bottle with colorful stickers or ribbons.

Warnings

  • Do not use nut butter if you are allergic to nuts.
  • Be sure to test your apple cider vinegar or essential oil for an allergic reaction before use.
