After a long flight, the last thing you want to do is drag suitcase after suitcase off your luggage strap in an attempt to identify yours. The best way to avoid this is to buy a suitcase that is different from others. But if you already have a completely ordinary suitcase, there are ways to make it more visible.

Steps

Method 1 of 5: Luggage Tags

  1. 1 Print and laminate your own luggage tags. You may find an inexpensive kit for making tags, but you can just search for templates on the Internet or draw them yourself on your computer and then print them and laminate them.
    • When you print your tags, use a laminator. Then use a hole punch to punch a hole in the tag.
    • Tie the finished tag to the suitcase with a ribbon or string.
    • Luggage tagged in this way will look solid and tidy - or at least stand out if you use pictures or photos for tags.
    • You can search the Internet for an inexpensive kit for making tags, cards, etc.
  2. 2 Make your luggage tags bigger and brighter than usual. Print them on colored paper or use pictures from the Internet. Take them to laminate to a photo printing or printing shop.
    • Your kids will love this idea. Invite them to color one side of the tag with colored markers.
    • On the back of the tag, include your name and mobile phone number.
    • First, laminate a sheet with several printed tags, then cut them out with scissors. Leave a margin of 1-1.5 cm around each tag.
    • Punch a hole at one end with a hole punch and thread a string or plastic "tie" through the hole to attach the tag to your luggage.

Method 2 of 5: Ribbons and Fabric

  1. 1 Tie a wide, bright ribbon to your suitcase. This is a common technique, so try to find a ribbon that makes it stand out. Instead of a finished tape, you can use a strip of fabric. Tie it tightly to the handle of your suitcase to keep it from coming loose. Do not leave long ends as they may catch on something (such as a conveyor belt).
    • Look at fabric stores for discounted leftovers of fabric or tape. Choose pieces of brightly colored or metallic fabric or ribbon.
  2. 2 Use an old scarf or buy a bright scarf from a second hand store or a sale. Let it be very cheap, so that it would not be a pity to get dirty or lose it. Scarves with stains or other defects are usually heavily discounted as they are difficult to clean.
  3. 3 Use multiple ribbons. Take scraps of ribbon or ribbon from gift wrapping. If you have ribbons of different colors, you can weave them together: such a bright "pigtail" will be easy to spot. You can also add strips of colored fabric to the ribbons. Do not forget to only take longer pieces - they will be shortened when woven.
  4. 4 Buy some brightly colored handkerchiefs. At holiday sales, you can find themed shawls in rarer colors than just red or blue. You may want to choose pastels instead of bright ones.
  5. 5 Use an old T-shirt. Do not throw away a bright T-shirt that has spots or a hole. Cut it into strips 10-15 cm wide and wrap them around the handle of the suitcase. Stripes cut from a white tee can even be dyed hot pink or purple. If you're into batik, use your skill to create a one-of-a-kind tag for your luggage. This is a great way to benefit from a T-shirt that is too young for you, or one that was given to you for free during a promotion. Free T-shirts are often of poor quality and odd colors, and are unlikely to ever be worn — they will do you a favor.

Method 3 of 5: Cords or Straps

  1. 1 Braid the handle with neon nylon cord (paracord). Use knots like "cobra" or "turkish head".
  2. 2 Use colored plastic ties ("cable ties").
  3. 3 Place the luggage strap on the suitcase. Look for a belt that is brightly colored, has an interesting pattern, or one that you can customize and make unique. It will help keep your belongings intact and make the suitcase more visible.
    • Pull an embroidered cover from your collection over the belt. You can collect covers dedicated to different countries, cities, sports, or just original. This is not only a way to express yourself, but also a great opportunity to make your luggage unique. In addition, such a cover can serve as an occasion to start a conversation! Luggage covers are also good for backpacks, golf bags, snowboard covers and other luggage.

Method 4 of 5: Stickers or tape

  1. 1 Place a few strips of tape, preferably colored tape, on your luggage. You can also write on it (or lay out pieces of it) your name or other distinctive sign.
  2. 2 Use iron-on stickers. It is best to stick them on the entire suitcase, then you will immediately recognize it from any side. Fancy or colorful stickers will make your luggage more visible.
  3. 3 Place colorful stickers on your luggage. You can mix big and small as you like.

Method 5 of 5: Other Methods

  1. 1 Paint your suitcase with spray paint. Choose an interesting drawing, make a stencil out of it and apply paint.
  2. 2 Attach a photo of your pet to your suitcase. Print it on one side of your luggage tag, stick a larger photo onto your suitcase, or paint directly on your suitcase using spray paint.
  3. 3 Stick more sequins, rhinestones or other decorative trifles on the suitcase. Many of them will fall off on the road, but many will remain, and they are cheap and easy to replace with new ones.

Tips

  • Photo luggage tags can be useful overseas, especially in countries that use a different alphabet.
  • The tag may come off accidentally when loading and transporting baggage. Use several at once by attaching them in different places.
  • Make sure to make the suitcase visible in advance, rather than the morning before departure.

Warnings

  • Do not use labels that can be misinterpreted. For example, no tags "Dynamite", especially abroad.
