If you've never set a combination on a luggage lock before, you can easily get confused. Since each lock is different, read the instructions for the lock or look for information about it on the Internet. Most locks work on the same principle - they can be reset using a button, lever, or the arc of a padlock.

Method 1 of 3: Change Combination Using Pushbutton Reset

1. 1 First, unlock the lock. To change the combination on the lock, you first need to enter the correct one. Enter the correct combination and make sure the lock opens.
   • If the suitcase was purchased recently, then the combination of the lock must be indicated in the documents. Typically, this is "000".
2. 2 Find the reset button. Typically, a tiny reset button can be found on the side or bottom of the lock. Press down on the button with a paper clip, pencil, or pen to proceed to the reset procedure.
3. 3 Enter a new combination. Enter a new combination while holding down the reset button. Enter any combination of numbers that you can easily remember.

Method 2 of 3: Installing a New Code in a Lever Lock

4. 4 Return the bow to its original position. After entering the new code, return the bow to its original position. Check if the lock will open with a new combination.
