Quikrete is a packaged cement mix used by homeowners and contractors for renovation, construction and landscaping projects. Quikrete cement can be mixed by hand in a wheelbarrow or tub using a hoe or shovel.

Steps

  1. 1 Wear eye protection and waterproof rubber gloves before handling Quikrete.
  2. 2 Pour the required amount of Quikrete into a wheelbarrow or mortar bath.
  3. 3 Use a shovel or hoe to cut a groove in the middle of the Quikrete mixture.
  4. 4 Measure out the recommended amount of water for the mixture using a measuring container or bucket. For example, a 36 kg bag of Quikrete mix will require approximately 2.8 liters of water.
    • If you need to add a dye for liquid cement, pour the paint solution into the water and stir after measuring the amount of water.
  5. 5 Pour about two-thirds of the water into the well of the Quikrete mixture.
  6. 6 Stir the water and cement with a hoe.
  7. 7 Continue gradually adding and stirring the remaining amount of water into the cement until the entire mixture is smooth.
  8. 8 Take a small amount of the Quikrete mixture with your gloved hand and squeeze lightly. When properly mixed using the recommended amount of water, the Quikrete mixture should resemble thick oatmeal and retain its shape when squeezed in your hand.
