Gucci belts are very expensive, because this is a famous designer brand that many people dream of seeing in their wardrobe. It is not surprising that every lucky owner of such a belt wants to be sure of its authenticity. Most fake Gucci belts have imperfections, such as frayed material, missing a serial number tag, or less-than-perfect seams. Check the packaging in which the belt was sold, then look at the handcrafted details to determine if it is genuine or counterfeit.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Inspecting the Package

1. 1 Check the box color and logo. All genuine Gucci belts are sold in a dark brown gift box with a two intersecting G logo (one inverted capital G intersecting with the other), which is printed on the entire surface of the box except the bottom.
   • The original box is always tied with a dark brown ribbon.
2. 2 Check the boot for the brand name, which should be printed in golden letters. All original Gucci belts come with a dust cover (silk pouch).The boot should be dark in color, have a gold “GUCCI” lettering in the center and be tightened with a drawstring located in the upper right corner.
   • Inside the bag there should be a label with the words “Gucci Made in Italy”. Otherwise, your belt is most likely a fake.
3. 3 Ask for the original receipt. If you ordered a Gucci belt from a store other than a Gucci brand, ask for the original receipt as proof of purchase. This way you will have no doubts about the authenticity of the belt.
   • The receipt for the original belt should have the following: “Gucci” on top, the address of the Gucci store or outlet that can be verified (including contact information), and the description / price of the product.

Part 2 of 3: Inspecting the Belt

1. 1 Look for perfectly straight seams. The seams of a Gucci belt should literally be perfect. Not almost ideal, and really perfect. You are paying for the high quality this designer brand is known for. Each seam should be perfectly straight (no slant) with perfectly straight stitches of the same length.
   • If this is not the case, there are great doubts about the originality of the product.
2. 2 See if there are any flaws in the material. Genuine Gucci belts are crafted with impeccable craftsmanship. If you notice scuffs or other traces of material defects, it is safe to say that this is a fake, especially if you bought a new belt, and it already has some signs of wear.
   • Any flaws in the materials are a sure sign that you are holding a fake belt.
3. 3 Check the fastening method of the buckle. On fake belts, it is often fastened with a button, while the buckle of the original Gucci belt is firmly soldered. None of the genuine belts have a button to lock the buckle.
   • Some models have fastening elements on the back of the buckle, while others simply do not. Check the specifications of each model.
4. 4 Look for the Gucci ID tag. On original Gucci belts, the label is located on the wrong side of the belt, while on fake belts it will not be at all. In some recent models, the stamp is near the buckle, and in older versions, right in the middle.
   • The label bears the name of the brand, the inscription "Made in Italy" and the serial number.
5. 5 Check the serial number. The serial number of original Gucci belts consists of 21 digits and starts with 114 or 223.
   • If the tag starts with 1212, then it is definitely a fake. This serial number is often found on fake Gucci belts.

Part 3 of 3: Checking Belt Nuances

1. 1 For Monogram GG Beige models, look closely at the monogram print on the belt and the GG lettering. This belt has a monogrammed pattern starting with two G. It must not be cut in the middle or start at any other point. There are no bolts where the buckle is attached. The background should be beige and the letters GG should be dark brown or blue and clearly defined. The seamy side of the strap is made of black leather.
   • The strap holes must be located in every second GG monogram in the second G.
2. 2 For Black Imprime models, inspect the metal finish on the double G buckle. Here the belt buckle consists of a regular and an inverted G. The regular G has a matte texture, while the inverted buckle is metallic black. The seamy side of the strap is made of suede. The double G logo is perfectly printed along the entire length of the belt.
   • This model has screws on the back of the buckle. Check for their availability.
3. 3 Check Gucci belts for the double G logo. The serial number is imprinted with the size of the belt, which is not indicated anywhere else on the product, while on fakes this information is usually applied to the skin at the end without a buckle. The lottery pattern should be applied all over the belt and the seams should run along it. The seamy side of the strap is made of suede.
   • The buckle of any original Gucci belt should be permanently locked, not fastened with a latch or button. This is a clear sign of a fake.
