1 Cook the meat. Pour the water into a large saucepan and place the short ribs in it. Place a saucepan over medium heat and bring water to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for an hour, skimming periodically.- Be sure to use a large saucepan to prevent the foam from boiling over the edges.
- Do not cover the pan with a lid while cooking meat.

Method 2 of 3: Rich cabbage soup
1 Prepare your potatoes. Pour olive oil into a large saucepan and heat for 1-2 minutes. Add the chopped potatoes and season with salt and stir to coat with olive oil. Cook the potatoes until tender, about 10 minutes.
- Do not overcook the potatoes, as they will continue to cook along with the rest of the cabbage soup ingredients.
- If you wish, you can wait and add salt later.
2 Add onion and garlic. Place them in a pot of potatoes and stir. Continue cooking until the onions are translucent.
3 Add broth and beans. Pour the stock into a saucepan, then add the beans. Stir with a long-handled spoon. Bring broth to a boil, then reduce heat.
4 Add cabbage and spices. Cook the cabbage soup until the cabbage is soft. Taste and add more salt and pepper to taste. Serve the cabbage soup with a spoonful of sour cream or grated cheese.
Method 3 of 3: Diet cabbage soup
1 Toast vegetables. Pour olive oil into a large saucepan and heat for 1-2 minutes. Place celery, onions, carrots and bell peppers in the oil and saute until tender, stirring every few minutes.
2 Add garlic. Place the garlic in a pot of vegetables and continue cooking until the garlic is fragrant - about 2 minutes.
3 Add broth and tomatoes. Pour the broth and put the tomatoes in a saucepan and bring the cabbage soup to a boil, then reduce the heat. Stir constantly to prevent the vegetables from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
4 Add cabbage and spices. Continue cooking the cabbage soup until the cabbage is tender - about 15-20 minutes. Taste and add more seasoning to taste.
5 Ready.
Tips
- When you put cabbage in broth or water, it seems like a lot, but it boils down, so don't worry if you see it taking up most of the pot.
