Method 1 of 2: Painting Roses One Color

1. 1 First, pick up a dried rose and make sure it is completely dry. White roses are especially well suited: as with white canvases, it is easier to transfer color to them.
2. 2 Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. There should be enough water to completely place the rose petals in the boiling water. The amount of water depends on the pot used.
3. 3 Add paint to boiling water. Many people prefer to use Rit paint, although other paints and food colors can be used. The amount of paint depends on the amount of water, but you need to add in the range of 8 to 15 drops. More paint will help achieve a deeper color.
4. 4 Add some salt to the water. Be sure to dissolve the salt in the paint. Thanks to the salt, the paint adheres better to the flowers. For a medium saucepan, a teaspoon of salt is enough.
5. 5 Place rose petals in the mixture. The hotter the water you immerse the flowers in, the deeper the color will be. The more transparent, the more transparent.
   • Submerging the petals in cooler water for less time can create an interesting "airy" effect. Many people prefer this color, rather than the monotone deep color obtained by dipping in hot paint.

Method 2 of 2: Painting the roses in different colors

1. 1 Trim all roses to the same size. You will need to cut the stem into two or four pieces and place each piece in a separate container of paint. For this to work, the stems of many roses need to be fairly short, although this is not necessary, especially if you have a tall glass that can be used for painting.
2. 2 Cut the stem of each rose into two or four pieces. If you want to achieve really outstanding results, cut the flower stems into four parts. Or just two. And two parts are enough for an impressive result.
   • It is not necessary to cut the stem completely. A cut to about the middle of the stem is enough.
3. 3 Find a suitable paint container. For this, candy molds are ideal. You can also use two glasses or vases for each flower.
4. 4 Place different paint in different vessels. The amount of paint should not be excessive, just to cover the tip of the stem.
   • Try to find colors that work well and interact with each other. Red and pink; yellow and green; blue and purple; yellow and orange; blue and green.
5. 5 Place the ends of the stems in a bowl and leave them in this position until they have absorbed all the paint. The effect can be seen after about 8 hours. After 24 hours, the rose petals will be a completely different color.
6. 6 Remove the roses from the dish. Roses can be gifted or dried for future generations.
