If your Hotmail inbox is full of spam, are you ready to switch to Gmail? This transition will allow you to see the new possibilities of the Internet! You can sync information from websites, create a Google+ account, and more. It's faster and easier! We will show you how to do this.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Importing Contacts

1. 1 Open your Hotmail account. On the sidebar, click on the "Contacts" link. On the "Contact Us" page, select the "Manage" option and select "Export".
   • The previous step will export the values ​​file to all your contacts. They can be opened with Excel or a similar program of your choice.
2. 2 Go to Gmail. On the left side under the Google logo, select the "Menu" option, as shown in the picture:
3. 3 In the Contacts window, look at the sidebar and select Import Contacts. A dialog box will open at the bottom. Click on "Select File", find and open a file called "WLMContacts.csv". This is the file in which the contacts are saved. This is the first step on Hotmail.
   • Select the "Import" option on the blue box to import your contacts.
4. 4 Send all contacts by mail and provide a new address. Once you've switched to Gmail, you no longer need to check your old address on Hotmail. Don't forget to tell your friends your new mailing address.
   • If you are subscribed to the newsletters, you can check them on your account on Hotmail or select the unsubscribe link and subscribe to the new address again.

Method 2 of 2: Importing Information

1. 1 Open Gmail. Under the splash screen on the right side, select the "Settings" option.
2. 2 In the settings select "Accounts and Import". In the settings window, select the "Accounts and Settings" option at the top of the main menu.
3. 3 Select "Import mailing address and contacts". In the "Accounts and Import" window, in the second column, click on the "Import mailing address and contacts" link.
4. 4 Enter your Hotmail email address. In the new window "Step 1" enter a new mailing address on Hotmail.
5. 5 Enter your Hotmail password. In the next window, enter the password for the new address:
6. 6 Select import options. Choose what you won't be migrating from Hotmail to Gmail. You can import mailing address, contacts and additional options. When you have selected the options you want, select "Start Import".
7. 7 Be patient. It will take you a little time to import the information, especially if you have a lot of contacts. When you're done, you can enjoy all the benefits!

Tips

• You can use a cloud service to update Hotmail information and import it to Gmail. So, you can regularly update your Hotmail account and switch to any service, including GMail.

Warnings

• Hotmail will automatically close your account if the period of inactivity is 200 days. Make sure all your friends have your correct address. You may want to check back often enough to organize the rest of the information.
