If you have a plasma TV, it is necessary to periodically clean the screen from fingerprints, dust and other contaminants that degrade the image. Read the instruction manual before cleaning. The manufacturer may recommend a specific product or cleaning method that works best for your device. In general, in most cases, the screen should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth. If you need to remove stubborn stains, use a soapy solution.

Method 1 of 2: Special solution

1. 1 Turn off the TV and let it cool down. Plasma screens consume more energy and generate more heat than LCD TVs, so it is best to turn off the unit before cleaning. Leave the TV on for 15-20 minutes. During this time, the screen will have time to cool down completely.
   • Otherwise, there is a risk that the cleaning solution will evaporate before dust, dirt and other contaminants can be removed.
2. 2 Wipe the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove smudges and fingerprints. You can use a microfiber cloth or a soft, clean cotton cloth. Wipe the screen gently in a circular motion to remove dust. This is usually enough to remove all the dirt from the screen.
   • Do not wipe the screen with a wood-based tissue (paper towels, toilet paper, handkerchiefs) to avoid scratching the surface.

3. 3 Spray an alcohol-based screen cleaner onto a clean cloth. If after cleaning the screen with a dry cloth, there are still stains, try moistening the cloth. Spray the cleaning solution 2-3 times onto a soft cloth. Do not apply the solution directly to the screen to avoid damaging the TV. Do not use strong chemicals such as ammonia and benzene, as they can darken the screen and make the image dull.
   • Isopropyl alcohol-based cleaners are available at many hardware and computer supply stores. Choose a solution for TVs or monitors.
4. 4 Clean the screen with a damp cloth to remove stubborn stains. Use this wipe to remove stubborn fingerprints and streaks from the plasma display surface. If you are not satisfied with the result, then spray some more solution onto the napkin. It is important not to saturate the plasma screen with liquid cleaning agent.
   • The napkin must not be wet, otherwise the solution will flow down the screen!
5. 5 Dry the screen with a separate, clean, dry cloth. After cleaning with the solution, wipe the TV with a dry cloth to prevent liquid damage to the screen.

Method 2 of 2: Soap solution

1. 1 Fill a spray bottle with water and add 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid. The water should be poured slowly so that the solution does not begin to foam strongly and flow over the edge. It is best to use warm distilled water rather than tap water, which may contain minerals and other impurities.
   • You can buy any dishwashing liquid at a hardware store.
   • Read the plasma TV warranty terms before using the solution. You should make sure that cleaning with soapy water will not void your warranty.
2. 2 Spray 2-3 streams of solution onto a microfiber cloth. Do not point the bottle at the TV screen so that the soap solution does not accidentally spill directly onto the plasma. Press the bottle lever 2-3 times to moisten the tissue.
   • If the napkin is too damp, you can always squeeze out excess liquid over the sink.
3. 3 Remove the stain on the screen with one finger. Cover your index finger with a damp cloth. Press the cloth over your finger gently against the stain on the screen and remove the dirt in a circular motion. It usually doesn't take a lot of effort.
   • If the screen is still dirty, try again dampening the cloth with 2-3 streams of solution and treating the stain again.
   • You don't need to press hard on the screen. If the pressure is too high, there is a risk of damaging the plasma.
4. 4 Dry the screen with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. When all dust and stains have been removed, use another microfiber cloth to wipe the screen dry. Due to this, dust in the air does not immediately settle to the surface.
   • If the screen is still damp and slightly soapy, slightly dampen a microfiber cloth with distilled water and collect any soapy streaks.

Tips

• The Plasma TV should be turned off before cleaning because plasma generates a significant amount of heat. Most cleaning products will evaporate on the hot screen before you even have a chance to pick up a dry cloth and pick up any dissolved contaminants.
• If you need to clean the screens of other electronic devices (such as a tablet or monitor), then use another microfiber cloth, otherwise you can transfer dirt from the plasma and vice versa.
• Some plasma screen products are antistatic so that dust does not immediately settle on the surface after cleaning.
• Please be aware that some TV manufacturers do not recommend the use of liquid front panel cleaners for plasma devices as moisture can enter. Read the instruction manual of the TV carefully before cleaning.
• Before cleaning the TV screen, make sure it is securely installed. This is especially important when it comes to large TVs, but smaller ones also need to be careful.
