While it's not an everyday look, rainbow shadows are a striking sight for a special party or event. It's fun, girly, and mysterious at the same time, and easy to apply.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Preparing Your Eyes

  1. 1 Moisturize the skin around the eye area and on the eyelids. Apply some foundation and powder to your eyelids to ensure an even foundation - these additions will keep the eyeshadow from fading quickly.
    • Apply a thin layer of a neutral base if you need to hold the eyeshadow for a long time; this will ensure they stay all day and night if you stay up late.

Part 2 of 2: Applying rainbow shadows

  1. 1 Apply pink eyeshadow and blend towards the center of the eyelid. You don't have to use pink; you can start with any color you want. Just make sure the next color you apply can fade into the color after.
  2. 2 Paint the next color (orange) right next to the first, and start mixing them.
    • Lightly tap a paper towel between the two colors to keep the colors from mixing.
    • Shake your brush before applying each of the subsequent eyeshadows so they don't fall on your cheeks.
  3. 3 Apply yellow eyeshadow on top of the orange ones where they start to fade. Decrease the brightness of the yellow shadows, gradually moving away from the eyelid.
  4. 4 Paint a strip of green eyeshadow on top of the yellow ones. Reduce the color of the green eyeshadow, gradually moving away from the eyelid.
  5. 5 Apply a strip of blue eyeshadow, touching slightly on the green ones. Reduce the color almost to the outer corner of the eyelid.
  6. 6 After applying eyeshadow, check the result in the mirror. Using an eyeshadow brush, gently blend the colors together at the seams between them.
    • For the smoothest transition between colors, use a clean brush, or even mix the colors lightly with a clean finger. This will create new shades and ease the transition.
    • If the color doesn't look bright enough to you, just go back and repeat the step until you're satisfied.
  7. 7 Finish the look with pencil or ink. It's time to choose an outfit!
  8. 8 Ready!

Tips

  • Use powder or eyebrow pencil to darken and create dynamic contrast in your bright eyeshadow shades.
  • Feel free to experiment. There are no hard and fast rules for makeup, with the exception of a few obvious ones (such as the appropriate foundation for the skin). Otherwise, fashion would never develop, but it always develops!
  • At the beginning of the application, it always does not hurt to prepare your cosmetics and materials for use. It is very important to use a good base under the shadow.
  • It is equally important to use good quality cosmetics. Also, make sure that your makeup is not shaken off under your eyes while you are outdoors!
  • For the green / blue part of the rainbow, apply the eyeshadow with a thinner brush. You don't want too much eye shadow to get into your eyes.
  • For other vibrant colors, try dipping the eyeshadow brush in water before applying the eyeshadow. Just be careful not to have too much water on the brush, or colors may drip.
  • Use several different brushes, preferably three: a pencil-type brush, a mixing or curved brush, and a large brush to highlight color. Make sure they are clean, because dirty brushes can harbor germs and will make your eyeshadow look messy.
  • For a lighter iridescent look, don't be afraid to soften the colors. If you're young and experimenting with makeup, start over with neutral tones.
  • If you don't want a lot of people to see it, use light shades.
