In this article, you will learn how to find the users on Instagram you want to follow. You can do this using the search bar by adding recommended users or people from your phone contact list or Facebook account.

Steps

Part 1 of 4: Using the search bar

1. 1 Start Instagram. Click on the multicolored Instagram icon. If you are already signed in to your account, you will find yourself on the Instagram home page.
   • Otherwise, enter your email address (or phone number) and password.
2. 2 Click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of the screen.
3. 3 Click on the search bar. It's a gray box at the top of the screen with the word Find. After that, a keyboard will appear on the screen.
4. 4 Click on the tab People just below the search bar so that only Instagram users appear in search results.
5. 5 Enter a name or username. As you type, results will begin to appear below the search bar.
6. 6 Select an account. Click on the account you want to open. After that, you will find yourself on the account page of this user.
   • If you don't see the account you want, try scrolling through the search results.
7. 7 Click on the blue button Subscribe to at the top right of the page to follow the user. After that, this account can be found in the Subscribers section.
   • If the account is secured, a friend request will be sent to the account owner. If the user approves the request, your subscription will be approved.

Part 2 of 4: Recommended Users

1. 1 Click on your profile icon in the lower right corner of the screen to open your profile page.
   • If several accounts are open on the device, a profile photo will be displayed instead of the icon.
2. 2 Click on the Interesting People icon. It looks like a silhouette of a person with a + sign and is located in the left (iPhone) or in the upper right (Android) corner of the screen.
3. 3 Click on the "Recommendations" tab in the upper left corner of the page Interesting people. A list of users will be compiled here based on your interests and current subscribers.
4. 4 Find the profile you want to subscribe to. Scroll through the list of recommended users until you find the account you want to follow.
5. 5 Click on that user's profile to go to their profile page.
   • If the page is protected, you will only see the user's avatar and biography.
6. 6 Click on the blue button Subscribe to at the top right of the page to follow the user. After that, this account can be found in the "Subscriptions" section.
   • If the account is secured, a friend request will be sent to the account owner. If the user approves the request, your subscription will be approved.
7. 7 Click on the Back button in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the Interesting People page.

Part 3 of 4: Facebook Contacts

1. 1 Click on the tab Facebook. This is the middle tab on the Interesting People page.
2. 2 Press Connect to Facebook in the center of the screen.
   • If you've connected Facebook to Instagram before, skip this step and go to Find the profile you want to follow.
3. 3 Select an option to sign in. Click on "Sign in with the app" or "Sign in with your phone number or email".
   • If you are already logged into Facebook on your device, you will see the message “Continue as [your name]”.
4. 4 Log in to Facebook. Skip this step if you have previously seen the "Continue as [your name]" message. Depending on the login method, this process will be different:
   • Through the Facebook app - press To come in... You may need to enter your Facebook email and password first
   • Via phone number or email address - enter your phone number or email address in the “Email or phone number” field, and then enter your password in the “Facebook password” field and click To come in.
5. 5 Click on the blue button Continue as [your name] at the bottom of the screen to allow Instagram to access their Facebook account.
   • For example: if your name is Maxim, then click on the "Continue as Maxim" option.
6. 6 Wait for your Facebook friends list to load. Depending on the number of friends, this may take a few seconds.
7. 7 Find the profile you want to subscribe to. Scroll through your friends list until you find the user you want to follow.
   • To follow all your Facebook friends, click on the button Subscribe to all at the top of the screen.
8. 8 Click on the profile of the desired user to open their profile page.
9. 9 Click on the blue button Subscribe to at the top right of the page to follow the user. After that, this account can be found in the "Subscriptions" section.
   • If the account is secured, a friend request will be sent to the account owner. If the user approves the request, your subscription will be approved.
10. 10 Click on the Back button in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the Interesting People page.

Part 4 of 4: Phone Contacts

1. 1 Click on the tab Contacts at the top right of the Interesting People page.
2. 2 Click on the blue button Connect contact list in the center of the page.
   • If you have already shared your contacts with Instagram before, skip this step and go to "Find the profile you want to follow."
3. 3 Press Allow access (iPhone) or Let's get started (Android). Click on the appropriate button when it appears to add people from your phone's contact list to the Contacts tab.
   • If you want to allow Instagram to access your location, click Yes or OK.
4. 4 Find the profile you want to subscribe to. Scroll through your friends list until you find the profile you want to subscribe to.
   • To subscribe to all friends, click on the button Subscribe to all at the top of the page.
5. 5 Click on the profile of the desired user to open their profile page.
6. 6 Click on the blue button Subscribe to at the top right of the page to follow the user. After that, this account can be found in the Subscriptions section.
   • If the account is secured, a friend request will be sent to the account owner. If the user approves the request, your subscription will be approved.

Tips

• Protect your account if it contains information that you do not want to disclose to the public.

Warnings

• Don't follow people you don't know. If your account is not secure, these users can easily follow you.
