This article will show you how to enter an inverted question mark on a computer and mobile device (smartphone, tablet).
Steps
Method 1 of 4: On Windows
1 Open the start menu
. Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.
2 Enter table of symbols. This will search for the Symbol Map utility.
3 Click on table of symbols. It's a pyramidal icon at the top of the Start menu. The Symbol Map utility opens.
4 Check the box next to the "Advanced Options" option. You will find it in the lower left corner of the window. Additional options will open.
5 Click the Search text box. It's at the bottom of the window.
6 Enter inverted (inverted) in a text box. Spell the word correctly.
7 Click on To find. It's a button to the right of the text box. A series of icons will appear.
8 Click on ¿. This icon will appear second from the left (in the upper left corner of the window).
9 Click on Choose > Copy. Both buttons are in the lower-right side of the window. The inverted question mark is copied to the clipboard.
10 Click where you want to insert the question mark. Open a document or click in the text box to move the cursor there.
11 Insert an inverted question mark. To do this, click Ctrl+V... Alternatively, you can right-click on a document or text field and choose Paste from the menu.
12 Use a keyboard shortcut. Hold the keys Alt+Ctrl+⇧ Shift and press the key ?to enter an inverted question mark.
- Press and hold ⇧ Shiftwhile holding down the Alt and Ctrl.
Method 2 of 4: On Mac OS X
1 Click where you want to insert the question mark. Open the application, document, or website where you want to enter an upside-down question mark, and then click in the text field or where the mark will appear.
2 Click on Change. This menu is in the upper left side of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.
3 Click on Emoji and symbols. It's near the bottom of the drop-down menu. The Symbols panel opens.
4 Click the Expand icon. It's a rectangular icon in the upper-right corner of the Symbols panel.
5 Click on Punctuation. You will find this tab in the lower left side of the window.
6 Double click on ¿. It's at the top of the Symbols panel. An inverted question mark appears in the selected text box.
7 Use a keyboard shortcut. Hold the keys ⌥ Option+⇧ Shift and press ?to insert an inverted question mark (the cursor must be in the text box).
- If you press the three indicated keys at the same time, a division sign will be entered.
Method 3 of 4: On iPhone and iPad
1 Click where you want to insert the question mark. Open the app where you want to enter the upside-down question mark, and then tap the text box where the mark will appear. The onscreen keyboard opens.
2 Click on 123. This button is in the lower-left corner of the keyboard. The alphabetic keyboard will change to a numeric-character keyboard.
3 Find the question mark. It's in the bottom row of buttons.
4 Hold the button ?. A pop-up menu opens with an inverted question mark.
- Do not press and hold the button firmly - in this case, the 3D Touch function is activated, and not the alternative menu of the button.
5 To choose ¿, go to the menu. Without lifting your finger from the screen, slide your finger over the inverted question mark to select it.
6 Take your finger off the screen. An inverted question mark appears in the selected text box.
Method 4 of 4: On an Android device
1 Click where you want to insert the question mark. Open the app where you want to enter the upside-down question mark, and then tap the text box where the mark will appear. The onscreen keyboard opens.
2 Click on ?123 or ?1☺. This button is on the lower left side of the keyboard. The alphanumeric keyboard will open.
3 Find the question mark.
4 Hold the button ?. A pop-up menu will open.
5 Please select ¿ in the pop-up menu. Slide your finger up to the inverted question mark to select it.
6 Release your finger. An inverted question mark appears in the selected text box.
