1 Try to mow your lawn as dandelions emerge. By preventing them from ripening, you will prevent the dandelions from spreading. Adjust the mower blades to at least 5-6 cm so that the tall grass blocks out the sunlight they need to grow from the dandelions.

• However, keep in mind that in order to completely get rid of the plant, it will not be enough for you to mow its top.

2 Dig up the dandelions along with the root. This is one surefire way to get rid of them. Buy a spatula for this from your garden or hardware store. Dig in the ground around the plant, stick the spatula next to it and push down on the handle, pulling the dandelion out of the ground along with the root.

3 Deprive them of their light. Dandelions require a lot of sunlight. You can cover them with pieces of cardboard or black plastic bags to block out the light. The plants will die in a few days.

4 Improve the soil. Add nutritious compost to it and sprinkle it with mulch. Dandelions love acidic soils. In rich soils, they grow weak and are much easier to deal with.

5 Use chickens or rabbits on dandelions. They are very fond of dandelions and will eat them as soon as they emerge from the ground. Dandelions are very beneficial for these animals.

6 Burn out the weed with fire. Take a burner and burn out the dandelions.

Method 2 of 3: Home Remedies for Dandelion Removal

1. 1 Scald the dandelions with boiling water. If you water dandelions several times a day with boiling water, the plants will die.
2. 2 Sprinkle the vinegar on the dandelions. Plain white vinegar will work, but you can also buy acetic acid for more effect. Pour vinegar into a spray bottle and spray it well from top to bottom.
   • Also try pulling a rooted dandelion out of the ground and spray the hole to kill any remaining plant roots.
3. 3 Sprinkle corn gluten meal on the lawn before the dandelions sprout. It is a herbicide that prevents weed seeds from germinating. Sprinkle flour on the lawn for four to six weeks before dandelions emerge. Since the product is only effective for only five to six weeks, you will need to apply it several more times during the growing season of the plant.
4. 4 Sprinkle salt on the dandelions. Pour one tablespoon of salt onto the dandelion. Just try not to get on other plants, otherwise they may die too.
5. 5 Use hydrochloric acid. Buy hydrochloric acid from a hardware store. One liter is inexpensive, but it will be enough for you for ages. Put on latex gloves.Use a kitchen syringe to apply the concentrated acid to the dandelions. Try not to inhale vapors. Then you can smile, because now the dandelions will turn brown in a few minutes and die forever.

Method 3 of 3: Use chemicals

1. 1 Try a chemical herbicide. Good herbicides have now been developed to control dandelion. They should be applied directly to the leaves of the weed, as other plants can be destroyed. They also kill the roots of the weed.

Tips

• Keep in mind that dandelions are quite edible unless you have treated them with herbicides. They are rich in vitamins A, C and D, potassium, iron, zinc, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. You can use leaves, roots, and flower heads in a variety of dishes.
• If you cut the dandelions, their stems may become shorter later.
