This article will show you how to fix error 0x800cccdd in the computer version of Microsoft Outlook. Typically, error 0x800cccdd occurs when Send / Receive is enabled on the IMAP server for Outlook.
Steps
- 1 Understand what is causing the error. Error 0x800cccdd appears along with the message "The IMAP server has closed the connection" - this means that the "Send and receive" function, which synchronizes emails with Outlook when connected to the Internet, did not work. This is not really a problem because the Send / Receive feature is not designed to work with IMAP servers — such servers can sync content without the need for Outlook settings.
- Since the error is a result of a failure in the Send / Receive function, to fix this error, you just need to disable the specified function (the error may still appear when you start Outlook, but not while using Outlook).
2 Start Outlook. Double click on the Outlook icon on your desktop; it looks like a white "O" on a dark blue background.
- If you haven't logged in to Outlook yet, please do so with your email address and password.
3 Click on the tab Sending and receiving. It's in the upper-left side of the Outlook window. The toolbar will open (at the top of the window).
4 Click on Send and receive groups. It's in the Send and Receive section of the toolbar. A menu will open.
5 Click on Define send and receive groups. It's an option at the bottom of the menu. A pop-up window will open.
6 Uncheck the box next to Automatically send and receive mail every. It's in the All Accounts section below the bar in the middle of the pop-up.
- Also uncheck the box next to "Send and receive mail every automatically" in the "When Outlook is turned off" section.
7 Click on Close. It's an option at the bottom of the popup. The settings will be saved.
8 Restart Outlook. Close Outlook and then start it and allow mail to sync. The error will no longer appear.
Tips
- In some cases, the 0x800cccdd error appears when the computer disconnects from the Internet during the synchronization of letters.
Warnings
- Disabling the Send / Receive function for a POP server may result in emails not being synchronized. Disable this feature only if you are using Outlook with IMAP.
