Method 1 of 3: Race Selection

1. 1 Playing as the Argonian. The Argonians are the best choice for the Templar if you decide to become the healer of the group.This race has a natural increase in the skill "Staff of restoration", as well as an increase in the effectiveness of healing, thanks to which the enemy team tries to kill him last. The Argonians are available to the Ebonheart Pact faction.
2. 2 Playing for the Altmer. Altmer have a natural bonus to mana and mana regeneration, which makes them wonderful Templars. They also have a bonus to magic damage and the "Staff of Destruction" skill, thanks to which they can protect themselves from enemies. All this makes them more attack-oriented, with a slight bias towards healing. Altmer are available to the Aldmeri Dominion faction.
3. 3 Playing for the Bretons. Bretons are an acceptable choice for the Templar due to their racial bonus to magic. They also have a number of racial bonuses thanks to which they are able to protect themselves, which is very important for the healing of the team. Bretons are available to the Daggerfall Covenant faction.
4. 4 Playing for the Dunmer. Dunmer have a slightly higher supply of mana, which makes them quite good Templars. They also have a good combination of resistance and attack bonuses, which makes their role in battle more balanced. It is best to do them as Templars of the attacking type. Dunmer are available to the Ebonheart Pact faction.

Method 2 of 3: Selecting Abilities

1. 1 Branch "Spear of Aederic". Skills in this branch are more focused on dealing damage. Most of them are AOE attacks that provide good control.
2. 2 Dawn's Wrath branch. Skills in this branch have a more protective essence, thanks to which they are able to block or reflect the abilities and attacks of enemies. These skills are useful regardless of the playstyle of the class.
3. 3 The Light of Restoration branch. These skills have a bias towards healing and restoring characteristics, both for themselves and for their allies. But be careful: some of them will prevent you from moving while casting the spell.

Method 3 of 3: Choosing a Play Style

1. 1 Battle Templar. There are two styles of playing the Templar. The first, attacking type, plays the role of a damage dealer in a group, with a slight bias towards healing.
   • With this playstyle in mind, focus on learning skills in the Aedric's Spear (and a bit in the Dawn's Wrath).
   • As a weapon, two-handed swords are perfect for you, as well as a sword and shield.
   • The points should mainly go towards increasing magic and stamina, although it will be useful to put a few points into health, since the character may be in the thick of the battle.
2. 2 Templar healer. A more familiar and useful role for the Templar is that of a healer (this is the second playstyle for this class). Templars have many skills that allow them to play a very important role in keeping your party members alive during battle.
   • If you choose this style of play, we recommend focusing on the Light of Regeneration route, although you can also pick a couple of skills from other branches to better protect yourself.
   • The staff of restoration is a must-have weapon for this class, although you can add other weapons if you want to be able to defend yourself.
   • Almost all of your points should be spent on increasing magic. Since you have a sufficient number of skills at your disposal for your treatment, having high health will be the least of your worries, moreover, you will not inflict damage so often, which is why you do not need to pump stamina very much.
3. 3 Wear light armor. The skill of wielding light armor includes a bonus for absorbing magic damage and increasing the amount of mana, so it is best for the Templar Healer to give preference to light armor. Heavy or light armor can be worn by an attacking templar.
4. 4 The role of support. The best use of your Templar is to support your allies by keeping them alive. This means that you will constantly have to treat them, but also be able to protect in case of something.To fulfill this role, you need to forget about selfishness and focus on overall success, and not only on your own.
