The Pictionary board game is fun to play with a group of three or more. The game includes a game board, chips, cards, hourglass, and dice. Sometimes the game may come with notebooks and pencils, but you can use any paper and pencils or even small drawing boards and markers. Read our article to find out how to play this game.

Steps

  1. 1 Divide into 2 teams. You can form up to 4 teams, but the game is more fun with fewer teams. If you play three, then the third player can play for two teams.
  2. 2 Provide each team with everything they need to play. Each team must receive a category card, paper and pencil (or board and marker). The map will tell you what the letters on the playing field and on the map mean. The categories are “P” (to draw a person, place, or animal), “O” (to draw an object), “A” (to draw an action), “D” (for difficult words), and “AP” (everyone is playing).
  3. 3 Before you roll the dice. Place the board and word cards in the center of the group. Place your chips on the first square. Since the first square is marked with the letter “P”, each team must draw a person, place, or animal.
  4. 4 Determine who will go first by rolling the die. Each team rolls the die once, with the winner going first.
  5. 5 Decide who will draw first. This player must take a word card and look for 5 seconds at a word in category P. His team does not need to know what the word is.
  6. 6 Turn the clock over and start drawing clues. Your team should, while you draw, guess within a minute what is shown in the picture. It is not allowed to write numbers or letters.
    • If someone guesses a word on the card before time runs out, you can roll a die, draw another card, and draw the next word.
    • If your team does not guess the word, then the move goes to another team, which starts to guess its word.
  7. 7 Everyone should draw in turn. Start each turn not by rolling the dice, but by taking a card with words. You are only allowed to roll the die and move the piece when your team guesses the word.
  8. 8 All teams play if you get to the AP cell, or if a triangle is drawn next to the word on the card. The players on each team, whose turn it is to draw, must look at the word and simultaneously begin to draw it. The winner is the team that guesses the word the fastest. They get the right to roll the dice and take the word card.
  9. 9 Play until some team reaches the finish line. An exact number must not appear on the die for this. If your team does not guess the word, then the right to play passes to the other team.
  10. 10 When you are the first to get to the last cell, then all teams play.

Warnings

  • While drawing, it is forbidden to communicate with other players on your team. You are only allowed to paint. Also, you cannot write numbers, letters, or use the "#" character.
