Method 1 of 2: How to Add Music to Photos in Stories

  1. 1 Start Instagram. Click on the multicolor camera icon. It is located on one of the desktops or in the application drawer. Your Instagram page will open if you are already logged in.
    • If you are not already signed in to your Instagram account, please enter your email address and password.
  2. 2 Go to the Home tab. Click on the house-shaped icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
  3. 3 Tap Stories. It's near the top of the page. The download page will open.
  4. 4 Create a photo. Point your phone at the item you want to photograph, and then press the round button at the bottom of the screen.
    • To select an existing photo, tap the square button at the bottom left of the screen and then tap the desired photo.

  6. 6 Click on Music. It's in the pop-up menu. A list of popular songs will open.
    • You may have to scroll down the page to find this option.
  7. 7 Find the song you want. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen, and then enter the name of a song or artist.
    • Alternatively, you can simply scroll through the list of songs in the Popular section.
    • If you can't find the song you're looking for, you'll have to choose another one.
  8. 8 Choose a song. To do this, touch the name of the desired song.
  9. 9 Select a segment of the composition. Click and drag left or right the slider that is on the sound wave at the bottom of the screen.
    • To decrease the number of seconds, press “15 sec.” And then scroll up to select a different option.

Method 2 of 2: How to Use the PicMusic App

  1. 1 Install PicMusic. PicMusic is a free iPhone app that lets you add music to your photos, but keep in mind that the photo will also display a watermark. To install this app, make sure you have the Instagram app on your iPhone, then follow these steps:
    • open the App Store ;
    • click "Search" in the lower right corner of the screen;
    • tap the search bar at the top of the screen;
    • enter picmusic, and then click "Find";
    • click "Download" to the right of "Pic Music";
    • enter your Apple ID or tap Touch ID.

    • You may need to click OK first for PicMusic to access your iTunes library.
  9. 9 Select the start time of the song segment. Click and drag the sound wave left or right to change the start time of a segment in the composition.
    • To view the start time, click on the triangular Play icon on this page.
    • If you don't want the song to fade out by the end of its playback, click on the pink slider next to Fade to disable this feature.
  10. 10 Tap the icon . It's in the upper right corner of the screen.

  12. 12 Scroll down and tap Instagram. It's under the SHARE section.
  13. 13 Tap OKwhen prompted. The photo will be saved to your Camera Roll.

  19. 19 Enter a signature (if necessary). If you would like to add a signature to your post, click on the Enter Signature text box at the top of the screen, and then enter your signature.
  20. 20 Tap Share this. It's in the upper right corner of the screen. Your photo with added music will be uploaded to your Instagram page.

Tips

  • If you use PicMusic a lot, pay for the premium version to get rid of the watermark.

Warnings

  • Currently, background music cannot be added to a photo that is not in Stories.
