Want to connect your old Nokia phone to a different network operator? To do this, you need to unlock your phone. Most carriers lock their phones to prevent users from switching to another carrier. If you meet the requirements of your operator, then he will most likely unlock the phone for free; otherwise, you can get the unlock code on a dedicated website.

Steps

1. 1 The easiest way to unlock your Nokia phone is to contact your network operator. If you meet the requirements of the contract, the operator will unlock the phone. Requirements usually include the need to pay off the remaining cost of the phone and stay as a subscriber for 6 months. If you have been using your phone for a year or more, then most likely the operator will unlock the phone for free.
   • If the operator is unable or unwilling to unlock the phone, read on.
2. 2 There are many sites on the Internet where you can generate a code to unlock old Nokia phones for free.
   • These sites are Lur.Nu, UnlockItFree.com and GSMLiberty.net.
3. 3 Enter the IMEI of your phone. This is a unique identifying phone number.
   • To find out IMEI, dial *#06#
   • The IMEI will be displayed on the screen of your phone. Write down this number.
4. 4 Select your Nokia model on the website.
   • You can find out your Nokia model by typing *#0000#... If the model number includes a letter (at the end), you can ignore that letter when choosing a model on the website.
5. 5 On the site, select the country in which you use the phone (or in which the operator who blocked the phone is located).
6. 6 Select a mobile operator (the list of operators displayed depends on the country selected in the previous step). Select the operator who locked your phone.
7. 7 Enter the unlock code. To do this, follow these steps:
   • Click on #.
   • Click on *** after 1 second. The screen will display "p".
   • Click on **** after 1 second. "W" will be displayed on the screen.
   • Click on ** after 1 second. "+" Will be displayed on the screen.
   • Enter the first 15 digits of the code.
   • Click on ** after 1 second. "+" Will be displayed on the screen.
   • Enter the last digit of the code.
   • Click on #.
8. 8 The message "Phone unlocked" will be displayed on the screen. Please note that you can try to enter only five codes, after which the phone will be locked permanently. If the first 2 codes didn't work, you better not continue.
