This wikiHow teaches you how to clear your router's system log using a web browser on your computer. System log records router operation history, system events, and procedures.

Steps

  1. Open a web browser on your computer. You can use any browser, such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera.

  2. Enter your router's IP address in the text bar. Click the text bar at the top of the browser and enter the router's default IP address.
    • Most routers use 192.168.0.1 as the default IP address. If this address doesn't work, you can try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1.
    • If none of the above IP addresses work, try restarting your router or disconnecting the device from the network.

  3. Enter the administrator username and password (admin). You will then log into the router's administrator interface.
  4. Click the button Login (Log in). You will be logged into the admin interface of the router.

  5. Click the card Status (Status) on the navigation bar. Find the button Status in the navigation bar on the router admin interface and click on that.
    • Depending on your router model, this button may be named Advanced (Advanced) or similar.
    • With most routers, you can find a navigation bar at the top or left side of the screen.
  6. Click System Log (System Log) or Administration-Event Log (Admin Event Log) in navigation bar. This button will open the router's system login page.
  7. Click the button Clear Log (Clear log). This button will clear the router's system log history.
    • If a dialog box pops up prompting you to confirm the action, click OK or Yes.
