FaceTime is a free Apple app that helps you make video calls and receive video calls from other FaceTime users. You can use this app to stay in touch with family across the country or with friends down the street. You can quickly set up FaceTime on iPhone 4 or later or iPad 2 and up. Steps

Method 1 of 2: Set up iPad / iPhone

1. 

   Open Settings. Click on the Settings icon on the home screen of the device to enter the settings.

   Click FaceTime. You may have to scroll down in the Settings list to find FaceTime.

   Click “Use your Apple ID for FaceTime”. You can turn on the Use Cellular Data option if you plan to make FaceTime calls without using a Wi-Fi network.

   Enter your Apple ID and password. If you don't have an Applle account yet, click "Create new Apple ID" to get a free account. Now click Sign In.

   Select the email to associate with FaceTime. If you are setting up an iPhone or you have already set up your iPhone with FaceTime, your phone number will appear. If not, you'll only see the email address associated with your Apple ID. You can select or deselect the remaining addresses. Click Next to continue.

   Add other email addresses. If you only have one Apple ID but want that multiple users can use FaceTime on their device, you can click the “Add An Email” link to add an email address. This email address will be associated with your Apple ID and used to receive calls in FaceTime.
   • This is particularly useful for families who share an Apple ID but want to use FaceTime across multiple devices.

7. 

   Turn on FaceTime. If you don't have FaceTime turned on, turn the switch on FaceTime. You may have to wait a while.

Method 2 of 2: Mac setup

1. Find out which Mac version you're on. You can do this by clicking on the apple in the upper left. If you see 10.7 then FaceTime is installed.
2. If FaceTime is not installed, open the App Store. Right now, the FaceTime price is at $ 0.99.
3. Now you have FaceTime. Open the app.
4. You need to enter your Apple ID and password.

Advice

• Under the Caller ID section of the FaceTime Settings screen, you can select an outgoing call in FaceTime as a phone number or select an email address.
