This article will guide you on how to change the background image of Google Chrome browser. If you are using the newer Google Chrome browser, you can use the Settings menu of the New Tab page to upload pictures or select photos from the Google library. You can also add a theme for Google Chrome from your browser's Settings menu.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use a New Tab page

1. 

   Google Chrome. Click or double-click on the Chrome application icon. This icon looks like a red, yellow, green, and blue balloon.
   • If you haven't updated to the latest version of Chrome, click the icon ⋮ in the upper right corner, then select Help (Help), click About Google Chrome (about Google Chrome), click Update (Update) and click Relaunch (Restart) when prompted before continuing.

   Google Chrome. Click or double-click on the Chrome application icon. This icon looks like a red, yellow, green, and blue balloon.

   Click the icon ⋮ in the upper right corner of the Chrome window. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click Settings (Settings) in the drop-down menu. The Settings page will open.

   Scroll down and click Themes (Theme). This option is at the top of the "Appearance" option group.

   Choose a theme for the wallpaper. You will browse through the list of topics until you find one you like, then click on the topic name to select it.

   Click the button Add to Chrome (Add to Chrome). This blue button is at the top of the topic page. The selected theme will be installed into the browser; If you choose a theme, the top of the Chrome browser window will change and display a part of that theme.
   • If the top of the Chrome window doesn't change, click the icon ＋ in the top-right corner of the tab to open a new tab. You will see the selected theme displayed here.

Advice

• You can create your own themes if you don't like the themes in the Chrome web store.

Warning

• If you use Chrome on a work or school computer, you may not be able to change the background or theme due to limited administration.
