- You can also use a straw to remove the stem. To do this, place the straw at the small, pointed end of the strawberry. Push the straw through the strawberries until the stem is pushed away from the other end.
- Repeat until all the strawberries have no stalks left.
- If you want to freeze whole strawberries, skip this step.
Place the frozen strawberries in the usable plastic freezer bag. Once the strawberries in the tray have hardened, remove the strawberries from the freezer. The next thing is to quickly put the strawberries in a plastic bag so that the strawberries don't thaw. Close the top of the bag and store the strawberries in the freezer until needed.
- Note the dates on the strawberry bag so you know the expiry date of the frozen strawberries.
- If you are using organic strawberries, you should also rinse them lightly to make them cleaner.
Remove the stalk of the strawberry with a knife or straw. To remove the stalk with a knife, use a sharp-pointed knife to make a circle around the stem (the leaf stem above) the strawberry.Skew the tip of the knife into the strawberry while you work, then use your fingers to grasp the leaf and pull the stem out. If you want to remove the stem with a straw, place the straw on the small, pointed end of the strawberry, then push the straw through the strawberry until the stem is pushed away from the other end.
- Repeat with the knife or straw until all the strawberries are stalked.
- You can also use whole strawberries, but they won't absorb as much sugar as when sliced or mashed.
- You should mash the strawberries if you want to freeze them and use them as a jam or topping.
Sprinkle white sugar on the mulberry. Scoop the strawberries into a large bowl with a cup and count the cups. Next, sprinkle about ½ cup white sugar for every 4 cups strawberries. You can also increase or decrease the amount of sugar depending on your taste.
- Although white granulated sugar is more commonly used, you can also use brown sugar or a sugar substitute like Splenda or sweetener sugar at this step.
- To know how much sugar to drink, you need to measure strawberries. For every 2 cups of strawberries, you will need ½ cup (120ml) of sugar water. So if you have 8 cups of strawberries, you need 2 cups (470 ml) of sugar water.
- Pre-prepared sugars can be refrigerated for up to several weeks.
- Repeat with the knife or straw until all the strawberries are stalked.
- If you want to freeze whole strawberries, you can skip this step.
- Crushing strawberries in a bowl is a good option if you want to use strawberries to make a cocktail.
- Continue adding sugar water until all the strawberries are submerged in the sugar water.
- You can also add other spices if you like. Both cinnamon powder or cardamom are suitable for strawberries frozen in sugar water.
- Storing strawberries in sugar water helps strawberries retain color and shape and absorbs the sweetness from the sugar water.
- When you want to use strawberries frozen in sugar water, just put the box of strawberries on the counter at room temperature for about 4 hours to thaw.
Advice
- Another simple and quicker way to freeze some strawberries is to make strawberry ice cubes and add them to drinks.
- Although you can freeze strawberries with their whole stalks frozen, it can be difficult to remove the stalks once the strawberries are frozen. If you decide not to remove the stem first, you need to thaw the strawberries for 2 to 4 hours, and then use a sharp knife to cut the stem.
