• The lights will have to stay on all night, so you should consider using solar or energy efficient lights to save on your electricity bills.
• You can also install a motion sensor that lights up when skunks or other animals approach. This way the light will have the effect of warding off skunks when they enter.

Use chemicals to repel skunk. Several chemicals are known to repel skunk. If you use these substances around the yard and areas where live skunk is suspected, they will begin to avoid them. The chemical that repels skunk must be used every few days, especially after heavy rain.

• Skunks are afraid of the smell of fox and dog urine, as they are prey to these two animals in the wild. If you know how to get your dog's urine, you can use it. You can also buy fox or dog urine products from the store and spray around the yard.
• Pepper sprays used to keep squirrels and other wild animals repel skunk. Spray on trees and areas where you can see skunk.
• Ammonia also scares skunks and withdraws. You can use an old rag soaked in ammonia and put it under the floor or hallway to prevent skunk from entering.
• The peels of citrus fruits are also a natural skunk repellent. Spread citrus peels around the property and below the hallway floors.

Part 3 of 3: Dealing with invaded skunk

1. 

   Make a trap with the trash. Buy a 120 liter metal trash can and a long wooden plank.
   • Just before dark, place the trash can upright where you want to trap the skunk. Lean the trash can against the wall or something sturdy so the skunk won't overturn. You can also use cat food as bait.
   • Take a long and sturdy plank (the board must be heavy and thick enough to withstand the skunk's weight; about 5 x 10 cm in size). Use planks to support skunks from the ground up and into the trash.
   • Skunks will not be able to escape from the trash. If you handle them carefully, hopefully they won't spray the smell.
   • Cover the trash can after the skunk has fallen into the trap. Use a truck to transport the trash with the skunk inside into the woods. Release the skunk by tying (or clamping) a wire about 7 meters long to the handle on the lid of the trash can. This way, you can open the lid to let the skunk return to the wild without being sprayed on you.

   Call animal control. If you want to ask someone with a skunk treatment specialist, call your local animal control center and have someone come to it. They have the knowledge and tools to trap and release skunk. advertisement

Advice

• Be patient when releasing a trapped skunk. You may have to wait a few minutes for the skunk to calm down and get out of the trap.
• Get to know your local laws before trapping and releasing skunks. You may not be able to do this in your area.
• If possible, avoid skunk traps during spring and summer is their breeding season.You can trap the nursing weasel and the puppies will starve to death without their mother.
