This wikiHow article will show you how to connect your iPhone to a desktop computer to sync or back up with the iTunes app, or move photos and other data.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Connect via USB
Connect iPhone to the desktop computer. Use the USB cable that came with your device.
Open iTunes. This is an app with a musical note icon.- iTunes can run automatically when you connect your iPhone.
Click on the iPhone icon. This icon will appear in the upper left corner of the iTunes window.
Click the button Back Up Now (Back up now). Do this if you want to create a data backup of your iPhone on your desktop computer.
Select what to synchronize. To do this, click the content item on the left pane of the window, then select or deselect Sync (Sync) at the top of the right bracket.
Click the button Apply (Apply). This button is in the lower-right corner of the window. This will save the synchronization options you just selected.
Click the button Sync (Synchronize). This button is in the lower-right corner of the window. Syncing will start.

Method 2 of 3: connecting over a wireless network (Wi-Fi)

Method 3 of 3: Connect to Mac computer using AirDrop feature
Click the Finder item on your Mac. It's a light blue and light blue icon with a smiley face and is usually located above the Dock. A Finder window will open on your desktop.
- Bluetooth needs to be open on both devices to connect via AirDrop.
