This wikiHow teaches you how to download and convert audiobook files (audiobooks) by Audible. Because Audible uses digital protection for audiobooks, you cannot remove it with regular audio conversion software. You will need to purchase a digital protection removal program before converting files. You must also have iTunes available on your computer to find and move audiobook files.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Downloading to a Windows computer

1. 

   . Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

   Find Audible. Click the search bar in the upper right of the Store window and type audible and press ↵ Enter.

   Click Get (Take). This green button is on the left side of the Store window. Audible for Windows will begin downloading.

   Click Launch (Launch) when the option appears. This button will appear where the button is Get on the previous Store window. Audible's login page will open.

   Sign in to your Amazon account. Please click Sign in (Log In), enter the email address and password you use to sign in to Amazon, then click Sign in.

   Download the book Audible. Click the down arrow in the lower left corner of the audiobook icon and select Not now (Not now) if the book prompt comes out. The book will be downloaded to the computer.

   Click the mark ⋯ in the lower right corner of the book icon. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click Import into iTunes (Import into iTunes). This option is near the bottom of the drop-down menu. Audiobooks will be added to your iTunes library and from now on you can begin converting audiobooks. advertisement

Part 2 of 3: Download to Mac

1. 

   Open Audible. Go to https://www.audible.com/home in the web browser on your computer. Your Audible home page will open if you are logged in.
   • If you're not logged into Audible, click Sign in In the upper-right corner of the page, enter your email address and password when prompted.

   Choose card Thư viện (Library) is at the top of the page. A drop-down menu will appear when you place your mouse pointer over this option.

   Click My Books (My books). This option is in the drop-down menu.

   Find the book you want to download. A list of your audiobook titles will appear on the page.

   Click DOWNLOAD (Download). This black button is to the right of the audiobook title. The book will begin downloading to your computer.

   Authorize your Mac if prompted. If the pop-up window asks you to authorize the computer to access Audible, click Yes, then sign in to your Audible account with your Amazon credentials and click the link Click here to complete your activation! (Click here to complete the activation process). You will be able to access your audiobook Audible on iTunes .. Advertise

Part 3 of 3: Transformation

1. 

   Purchase and install DRM-protected audio converter (Digital Rights Management: measures to manage digital content copyright). Unfortunately, there's no reliable and free way to remove DRM protection from Audible files. While many audio converters that can do that have a free trial, you'll ultimately need to purchase the full software version if you want to convert the entire book. Programs that can remove DRM protection on both Windows and Mac computers include:
   • TuneFab
   • DRMare Audio Converter
   • Noteburner iTunes DRM Audio Converter

2. 

   Open iTunes. Double-click the iTunes app icon with a multicolored musical note on a white background.

3. 

   Open the Audiobooks page. Click the drop-down box in the upper left of the iTunes window (this option is usually text Music), then click Next Audiobooks in the drop-down menu that appears. A list of audiobooks in iTunes will open.

   Find your audiobook file on your computer.
   • On Windows Right-click the name of the audiobook, then select Show in Windows Explorer (Visible in Windows Explorer) from the drop-down menu that appears.
   • On Mac Click the name of the audiobook, then you click File (File) and select Show in Finder (Visible in Finder) from the drop-down menu that appears.

   Copy the file and paste it onto the desktop. This way, you will find the file easier:
   • Click to select an audiobook file.
   • Press Ctrl+C (Windows) good ⌘ Command+C (Mac) to copy files.
   • Go to the desktop and click on empty space.
   • Press Ctrl+V (Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (Mac) to paste the file on the desktop.

   Open the conversion software Audible. Double-click on the app icon that you downloaded and installed earlier.
   • If you have not purchased the full software version, you may need to proceed with login or registration using your billing information before proceeding.

7. 

   Select the file Audible. Click Browse (Browse) or Open (Open) in the software window, then select the name of the sound file in the Desktop folder then click Open.
   • In some cases, you may need to drag the audiobook file into the converter's window.
   • By default, the audio converter software can also detect audiobooks by itself. If your software can, click the card Audiobooks and find the audiobook file name.

8. 

   Select audio output format. After adding Audible audiobook files to your converting program, find the converting item and click on the desired audio format. In most cases the format is MP3 usually selected.
   • AAC is also a commonly used format, but quite a few platforms support AAC.

9. 

   Convert audiobooks. Click OK good Convert to start converting the audiobook file to MP3 (or AAC) format. After the conversion is complete, you will be able to play the audio book as a standard audio file on most programs that support audio playback.
   • This can last for hours if your audiobook is long, so make sure the computer is full of battery / plugged in.

Advice

• iTunes, Windows Media Player and Windows 10 Audible can play all Audible audiobooks without converting, you can also download Audible app for iPhone and Android platform to listen to books wherever you are. The rare case where you might need to convert an audiobook to an unprotected file is when you want to burn the audio to a disc or copy it to an old MP3 player.

• Even if you're not sending files to anyone, it's also illegal to remove the DRM protection
