If you forgot to bring or buy sanitary pads, or if you just run out, you can use these simple instructions to make your own sanitary pads quickly and easily.

To step

There are a few methods to make a temporary sanitary napkin. The former works just as well as a real sanitary napkin.

Method 1 of 4: With cotton wool

  1. Find a piece of cotton wool about the same size as a real sanitary napkin. It doesn't matter if the shape or size is not perfect.
  2. Wrap toilet paper around the cotton wool.
  3. Place your homemade sanitary pads in the usual place in your underwear.

Method 2 of 4: Using only toilet paper

  1. Take a generous amount of toilet paper. Fold the toilet paper in half until you have the desired thickness. The thicker (and more absorbent) you want your pads to be, the more often you need to fold them.
  2. Place your homemade sanitary pads in the usual place in your underwear.

Method 3 of 4: With a piece of cloth

  1. Find a few (clean) patches that are about the size of a sanitary napkin. Long pieces of fabric are better.
  2. Check that the fabric does absorb liquid.
  3. Place your homemade sanitary pads in the usual place in your underwear.
  4. Bring a few spare racks.
  5. Wash and reuse the patches.

Method 4 of 4: With cotton guest towels

  1. Find an old cotton guest towel, fold it in half and then fold it again.
  2. Cut a clear plastic bag in half so that you get a rectangle.
  3. Place the folded guest towel on top of the plastic and place it in the usual place in your underwear.
  4. Put on very elastic and tight underpants or put two on top of each other.
  5. If you have sensitive skin, put on two underpants and place the piece of plastic between the two pants.

Tips

  • Wrap another piece of toilet paper around your homemade sanitary napkin and underpants to help it stay in place.

Warnings

  • Only use the second method for a short time. Change homemade sanitary napkins as often as possible or they will leak.
  • These are only workarounds. Buy new pads as soon as possible, or better yet, make your own.
