If you want to clean your jewelry, use baking powder instead of special cleaner! This is a gentle cleaner that works well to clean jewelry of all types, including gold, silver, gold-plated jewelry, and silver-plated jewelry. Make a baking soda paste to scrub stained jewelry, and soak less soiled pieces in a baking soda solution. For goldfilled, nickel silver and sterling silver jewelry, you can add salt and dish soap for a thorough cleaning. Regardless of the method, baking soda (baking soda) can make your jewelry look shiny and like new again.
To step
Method 1 of 3: Give your jewelry a basic cleaning
- Dip a clean toothbrush into the paste so that it covers the bristles. Scoop up a generous amount of the paste so that you can cover the jewelry completely. Try to get the paste on all hair.
- If you need more baking soda, just put a little more on your toothbrush.
- If you don't have an extra toothbrush on hand, use a cotton swab. Never use a toothbrush that is not clean or you could damage the jewelry or spread germs.
- Put your jewelry on a towel to let it dry. Place a clean towel on the counter and put your jewelry on it after rinsing it clean. Leave the jewelry on the towel for 5-10 minutes to let it dry completely.
Method 3 of 3: Cleaning gold and silver jewelry
- Place aluminum foil in the bowl so as not to lose small items. Cut a piece of aluminum foil the size and shape of the bowl, and use that to cover the inside of the bowl.
- If you are cleaning large jewelry, the foil is not necessary. You only use it to avoid losing small earrings or pendants.
- Dry your jewelry with a cloth when it is clean. Before putting the jewelry back on or storing it for later use, pat it dry with a clean towel. Do this with a cloth or some kitchen paper.
