It is best to heat up ribs in an oven or on the barbecue, to warm up both the meat and the sauce that is already on the remaining ribs. How long you reheat the ribs depends on the size of the piece of meat, but the procedure is the same in all cases.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Reheat ribs in an oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 121 degrees Celsius. If the oven is at a higher temperature, there is a chance that the rib meat will dry out and become tough.
  2. Remove the ribs from the barbecue and let them cool until they are ready to be served.

Tips

  • Reheating ribs in the microwave can be tricky, so start with 1 minute of reheating and then adjust the time as you see fit. This method can make the meat mushy, let the barbecue sauce drip off the meat, and explode the fat in the ribs.
  • Let the leftover ribs in the package thaw in the refrigerator for about 6 to 8 hours before heating them.
  • If you don't plan on eating the leftover ribs within 3 to 4 days of cooking them, you should freeze them. Wrap them tightly in plastic or put them in an airtight container and put them in the freezer. This means there is as little air as possible near the meat.
  • If you are not using barbecue sauce to reheat the ribs, you can also pour a few ml of water, apple juice, or white wine over the ribs to keep the ribs moist and soft before wrapping it in aluminum foil.
  • Note that either method of reheating ribs should work, whether you grill your ribs first, cook them in the oven, or cook them slowly.

Warnings

  • Do not leave the ribs alone for the last 5 to 10 minutes of reheating as the barbecue sauce burns extremely easily due to the sugar in it.
