There are many photo apps out there, but the best is and will remain Instagram. One of the reasons for its popularity is its simple and accessible response system. It is very simple to comment on a photo and like a photo. But sometimes the reactions go too far. Follow the steps in this article to comment on your favorite photos and delete comments you don't like.

To step

Part 1 of 3: Respond from the app

  1. Open your Instagram app. Make sure you are signed in with your Instagram credentials. When you open the app, you will automatically be taken to your news overview.
  2. Find the photo you want to comment on. You can post comments on your own photos or photos of users you follow. Tap the photo to open the photo.
  3. Tap the "Reply" button. You will find this button below the photo, next to the "Like" button. This will open the response window. Your keyboard appears and you can start typing.
  4. Write your comment. When you are satisfied, click the green button. Now your comment will be added to the list of comments.

Part 2 of 3: Delete comments from the app

  1. Find the photo to which you posted a comment. You can only delete your own comments from photos of others. You can delete all comments on your own photos.
  2. Use your finger to swipe the comment to the left. A red trash can will appear on the right side of the comment. Tap the icon to start deleting.
  3. Decide if you want to report the response. If the comment was offensive, you can report the user upon deletion. This is especially useful if nasty people keep posting nasty comments to your photos. Tap "Delete Comment" to delete only, or "Delete Comment and Report Abuse" to report at the same time.
    • If you delete your own comment, you (fortunately) do not have the option to report.

Part 3 of 3: Using the Instagram website

  1. Log in with your Instagram credentials. You do not have access to all functions in a browser, but you can log in as usual. You can also comment on photos and delete comments.
  2. Reply to a photo. Find the photo you want to comment on. Post a reaction to a photo in your news overview or photos that you have taken yourself. If you respond to photos of others, click on the photo to open the photo and write your comment in the text field to the right of the image.
  3. Delete a comment. Open the photo where you want to delete a comment. You can only delete your own comments from photos of others. You can delete all comments on your own photos.
    • Move your mouse over the comment you want to delete. an "X" will now appear in the top left corner.
    • Click on the "X". A menu opens with the option to delete, among other things. Click on "Delete".

Tips

  • Sometimes it is not possible to delete a comment. Then log out, empty your device's cache, restart your device and log back in. That usually solves the problem.
  • If you want to go to someone else's profile on your computer, you can simply replace your username in the web address with another username. This way you can also follow other users. Or you click on a username on your response page to go to the profile of that user.
  • You can only change a caption by placing a new caption.
  • Report offensive comments, they could be from a "spambot".
  • If certain followers post a lot of nasty comments, you can stop following these people.
  • In a comment, you can reply to a particular user by adding @Username. You can also use hashtags to make your photos visible on public tag pages.

Warnings

  • Do not report comments where there is nothing wrong with. If you do that a number of times, your account may be blocked.
  • Always respond nicely and keep your language neat. If you don't, your comments will be deleted.
