Nothing makes a game more festive than a tasty punch. If you put some alcohol in it, it will be a blast. If you don't already have it all, hurry to the liquor store and get the ingredients you need to whip up one of these three punches: Hawaiian punch, classic sangria, or the Arnold Palmer Punch.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Hawaiian punch

  1. Buy Hawaiian Punch from Dr. Pepper. This is the easiest base to start with. It is not easy to get in the Netherlands, but you can order it online. This drink, or a similar blend of fruit juices, removes the sharpness from the alcohol and stays nice and smooth when mixed. You can also mix many different types of alcohol and fruits with it.
  2. Choose an alcoholic drink. You can actually mix Hawaiian Punch with anything. For example, you can take vodka, rum, fruit schnapps or champagne. Remember this isn't rocket science, so experiment with what you like.
    • You need about 2 parts of alcohol to 3 parts of punch.
    • Alcoholic drinks with strange flavors such as chocolate vodka may not pair very well with fruit punch.
  3. Gather the supplies. Sangria, originally from Spain, is a classic wine punch that tastes delicious and gives your party an exotic touch. The classic combination consists of wine, pieces of fruit and brandy, but you can also leave the brandy out if you want to quickly mix something at home. If you're pressed for time, you can omit the sweetener or sugar and rely on the sour yet fruity flavor of cranberry juice to add some body and sweetness to your drink. All you need to add is red wine and your favorite fruit. The best ratio is:
    • 1 bottle of your favorite red wine. You don't have to go broke buying expensive wine as the flavor will be masked by the juice and fruit. You can also use white wine, in which case it is called sangria blanca. White wine is usually a bit sweeter, so you have to adjust the mix a bit to taste.
    • 1 - 2 cups of fresh fruit pieces, such as orange, lemon, lime, apple, peach, melon, and grape. Cut the fruit into small cubes of about 1cm so that you can mix it well with the liquids while it still retains its substance. Experiment with different fruits to see how they taste in the sangria.Fresh fruit will last longer if it has been soaked in alcohol for a long time, which will keep its crunchiness so that the drink remains interesting.
    • 2 cups of juice or lemonade to dilute the wine. Any kind of carbonated fruit juice or lemonade can work, but be careful how sweet it is in relation to the flavors of the fruit and wine.
    • For an even more festive treat, use fizzy lemonade such as 7 Up or Sprite. If you do this, make sure to wait until just before serving before pouring this in, because the shot will be off quickly.
  4. Put it cold in a carafe or large pitcher and serve. Just before serving, add some ice to keep it nice and cold. Because of the pieces of fruit, it is more important in what kind of container or bowl you put it. A lid or strainer can help you to evenly distribute the pieces of fruit and ice in the glasses. In Spain, sangria is often served with a wooden spoon so that you can scoop the fruit out of the bottom of the jug.

Method 3 of 3: Arnold Palmer Punch

  1. Gather your supplies. This classic is named after a famous 1960s American golfer, Arnold Palmer. He invented the delicious combination of iced tea and lemonade at home and then started ordering it from cafes, making it a hit very quickly. An Arnold Palmer has three simple ingredients: iced tea, lemonade and bourbon. The best ratio is 4 parts tea, 4 parts lemonade and 1 part bourbon. But the drink is very easy and can be mixed to your own taste.
  2. Make the tea. Put 5 tea bags in 1 liter of boiling water. Let it steep for 5 minutes before throwing away the bags. If you don't want to make tea, you can also buy ready-to-drink iced tea.
  3. Make the lemonade. Squeeze 8 lemons. Mix this with 280 grams of sugar and 1.5 liters of water. Adjust the sweetness as desired. Chill until ready to serve. If you don't want to make lemonade, you can also buy it ready-made.
  4. Mix the ingredients. Mix 1 liter of tea, 1 liter of lemonade and 250 ml of bourbon in a large bowl or jug. Adjust the proportions to taste.
    • Put it cold in a carafe or large pitcher and serve. Arnold Palmer Punch is best served with lots of ice, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint.

Tips

  • Add some fruity liqueur like peach schnapps along with something stronger like Bacardi to add even more flavor and bite to your punch.
  • Both clear and dark liqueurs taste great with fruit punch.
  • To enhance the flavor even more, you can add some real fresh juice. Simple things like orange or something more exotic like strawberries and kiwi are very tasty.
  • If you do make your own iced tea and lemonade for the Arnold Palmer, make double the amount and make half alcohol-free for the little ones!
  • Strawberry lemonade, iced tea with mint; the possibilities are endless. Almost any flavor of lemonade works well with this recipe, but avoid too strong herbal teas.
  • Clear lemonade like Sprite gives a nice kick due to the carbonation, and it doesn't change the taste too much.

Warnings

  • Pay close attention to your measurements. Send them home in a taxi if they've had too much to drink.
  • Don't put too much alcohol in your punch.
  • Drink responsible.
