This wikiHow teaches you how to hyphenate lines to type multiple lines in a Slack message.

To step

1. Open Slack on your PC or Mac. If you have the Slack desktop app, you can find it in the "applications" folder (macOS) or in the Windows menu (Windows). You can also use the web version by logging into your team at https://slack.com/signin.
2. Click on a channel or on a direct message. These appear in the left column.
3. Enter the first line of your message. To start typing, click the chat window at the bottom of the window.
4. Press ⇧ Shift+↵ Enter (pc) or ⇧ Shift+⏎ Return (macOS). For example, a line break is added, which means that the cursor moves to the next line.
5. Enter the second line of your message. When you're done, you can go back on ⇧ Shift+⏎ Return to start a new line. Keep typing lines and then add line breaks until you're done composing the message.
6. Press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return. Your multi-line message will now appear in the channel or in the direct message.
