Tips

  • Many fonts you download from the Internet can be compressed into a .zip file to reduce size and increase download speed. In that case, you can extract the .zip file by double clicking it and following the on-screen instructions.
  • You can drag OpenType, TrueType, Type 1, and raster fonts from another location to add them to the fonts folder. This only works if the font does not already exist in that folder.
  • To add a font from a network drive without placing it on your hard drive: uncheck the "Copy fonts to Fonts folder" checkbox in the "Add Fonts" dialog box. This option is only available when installing OpenType, TrueType, or raster fonts using the "Install New Font" option in the File menu.
  • Keep in mind that a font cannot be installed on another computer, which will affect the way text in a presentation or document is displayed. If the font is not available on another PC, a standard font such as Arial or Times New Roman will be used instead, depending on the default setting.
  • To ensure that a document is displayed with the correct font everywhere, you can of course install the used font on that other PC, or, if it is a TrueType font in Word or Microsoft PowerPoint, you can embed / include it in your document. The file size will increase slightly as a result, but then you can at least be sure that the layout is correct.
