Lamb steaks are firmer, thicker and cheaper than lamb chops. Steaks come from the leg and the meat can be easily divided into about six large portions. Lamb steak tastes best when marinated, as the meat becomes more tender. You can grill or bake the meat just like beef steak.

Ingredients

  • 6 lamb steaks, about 2 inches thick
  • 2 large garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dried rosemary (or 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary)
  • 120 ml of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

To step

Method 1 of 3: Prepare the lamb steak

  1. Ask your butcher for leg-cut lamb steaks. Many butchers do not sell pre-cut lamb steaks. However, your butcher will be happy to cut them off the legs for you. Six steaks, or six servings of meat, usually come from one leg.
    • Ask for steaks about two inches thick. This way you get tender meat that is cooked quickly.
    • If your butcher doesn't have lamb steaks, you can also use this method to cook lamb chops.
  2. Put the baking dish in the fridge for at least eight hours. You can start preparing in the morning and refrigerate the baking dish during the day, or start preparing the night before and leave the steaks in the marinade overnight. Turn the steaks halfway through so that both sides are well marinated.

Method 2 of 3: Grill the lamb steak

  1. Light the grill or stove. Lamb steaks taste best when cooked over high heat, so grilling and pan frying are the best cooking methods. Allow the grill to heat up completely before continuing.
    • If you are using a grill, let the coals burn until the fire starts to go out and the coals are glowing. The steaks have to be grilled on a very high setting.
    • If you prefer to cook the steaks on the stove, heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Let the pan get very hot.
  2. Preheat the oven to 190 ° C.
  3. Fry the steaks for half an hour. Then take them out of the oven and let them cool for five minutes. Place the steaks on a serving plate and serve.

Tips

  • If you like to eat lamb with mint sauce, serve your lamb steaks with mint sauce as well.
  • Lamb steak tastes great with potatoes and pointed cabbage.
