Tulle is a beautiful, gossamer, flowing fabric. Unfortunately, wrinkles can appear in the fabric in your wardrobe. To get the wrinkles out of the fabric, treat the fabric with moisture in the form of steam to relax the tulle. You can hang the tulle in the bathroom and turn on the hot shower faucet, run the nozzle of a steam cleaner over the wrinkles, put the tulle in a warm tumble dryer, or use the steam function of an iron to remove the wrinkles. Always use the lowest setting and always heat the fabric from a distance.

Method 1 of 4: Using steam from a shower

Hang the tulle garment on a clothes hanger. If you want to get wrinkles out of a tulle dress, hang the dress on a cloth-covered hanger. If you want to get wrinkles out of a tulle veil, clip the veil to a clothes hanger.
- If it is a tutu, hang the tutu on a tutu clothes hanger so that the garment retains its shape.
Hang the clothes hanger in the bathroom. Hang the clothes hanger with the tulle garment on a hook in the bathroom or on the bathroom door. Allow steam to flow around the tulle garment.
- Do not hang the tulle garment on the rail of the shower curtain because you will be using the shower.
Place towels on the floor and turn on the hot shower tap. Put towels on the bathroom floor so that it doesn't get slippery and dangerous. Turn on the shower tap and make sure the water gets hot so that the room starts to fill with steam.
- Leave the bathroom door open so that the fabric doesn't get too damp.
Place a clean, dry towel over your arm. Wrap the towel around your arm so that your arm is completely covered by the fabric. Use a white towel to prevent the towel from transferring to the tulle.
Run the towel over the tulle to smooth out the fabric. When the room fills with steam, slowly rub your arm with the towel around it down by the tulle. Repeat this as needed to remove light creases.
- Let the shower run until you have steamed all the wrinkles out of the fabric.

Method 2 of 4: Using a steam cleaner

Hang the tulle garment on the stand of a steam cleaner. Hang the tulle dress or tutu on a coat hanger and attach a tulle veil to a coat hanger with clips. If you're using a portable steam cleaner, hang the tulle garment from a shower rail, a hook in the wall, or a rail in an empty wardrobe.
Fill the water tank of the steam cleaner and let the appliance heat up for 5 minutes. Make sure there is enough water in the water tank for the steam cleaner to make a lot of steam. When you have switched on the steam cleaner, let it heat up for 5 minutes.
Point the nozzle of the steam cleaner at the creases. When the appliance is ready for use, steam will start to come out of the nozzle. Move the nozzle over the tulle, keeping it about 3 to 5 inches away from the wrinkled tulle. Continue to run the nozzle over the fabric until the wrinkles flatten and disappear.
- Depending on how wrinkled the fabric is, you may need to hold the nozzle over the fabric for a few seconds.

Method 3 of 4: Remove wrinkles with your dryer

Check the care label. If you're trying to remove wrinkles from a piece of tulle garment, read the garment's care label. If the garment is also made of another delicate fabric, do not put it in the dryer. For example, do not use the tumble dryer if you want to remove wrinkles from a wool dress with tulle embellishments, as the wool will shrink in the dryer.
- Do not use the tumble dryer to get wrinkles out of large garments such as wedding dresses. Also, do not use the tumble dryer if rhinestones, pearls and pieces of lace are glued to the tulle.
- Garments that are partly made of plain fabric and partly of tulle, such as ordinary tutus and veils without decorations, can be safely put in the dryer.
Set the empty dryer on a low temperature setting and let it run for 3-5 minutes. Set the dryer to the lowest possible temperature and switch it on without putting the tulle in the drum. Let the dryer run for 3-5 minutes to heat it up.
- Some dryers have a setting for delicate fabrics, which is the lowest temperature setting.
Spray water on the tulle. Grab a spray bottle of water and spray water on the tulle several times. The tulle or garment should feel slightly damp. This moisture creates steam in the dryer, which removes the wrinkles.
Dry the tulle for 5 minutes. Put the tulle or garment in the warm dryer and let the dryer do its work on the lowest setting. Dry the tulle until the fabric becomes smooth. Do not dry the tulle for more than 5 minutes, or the fabric may dry out and become stiff.
- You can only put the tulle in the dryer if you have sprayed water on the fabric first.
Remove the tulle from the dryer and hang the fabric. Switch off the dryer and remove the warm tulle immediately. Hang the fabric on a clothes hanger or with a clothespin or clip and let the fabric dry completely. The wrinkles should disappear when the tulle is cold.

Method 4 of 4: Press the wrinkles with an iron

Fill the iron with water and switch it on. Do not plug in the power supply yet and fill the iron reservoir with water. Put the plug in the wall socket and set the iron to the steam function. Let the iron heat up until steam comes out when you lower it.
- Do not use an iron without a steam function.
- If your iron rusts quickly, don't use it to steam the tulle.
Place the wrinkled tulle on an ironing board. Make sure the ironing board is clean and dry. Place the fabric or tulle dress on the ironing board so that the board is covered with the wrinkled fabric.
Hold the iron about 3 inches above the tulle. Lower the iron to the tulle, but do not put it on the fabric or the fabric may melt. Hold the iron about 3 inches above the tulle and let it hang over the creases for a few seconds. When the steam from the iron reaches the creases, they should become smooth.
