In this article, you'll learn how to unfollow people you follow on Instagram. This can be done on a PC as well as from your smartphone. Unfortunately, there is no pre-programmed way in Instagram that allows you to unfollow everyone at once. Also, you can only follow or unfollow a limited number of people per hour within Instagram. If you unfollow a large number of people in a short time, your account may be temporarily blocked.

Method 1 of 2: Unfollow people on an iPhone or a phone with Android

1. Open Instagram. To do this, tap the colorful icon in the shape of a camera. If you are already signed in to Instagram, you will be taken directly to the home page.
   • If you weren't signed in to Instagram before, enter your username (or phone number) and password and tap Sign Up.
2. Tap the icon of your profile. You can find it at the bottom right of the screen.
3. Now tap "Next". You will find this section almost at the top right of the screen. You will then see a list of all the people you are currently following.
   • Above this list is a number. This number represents the number of people you are currently following.
4. Tap on Next next to a person's name. This button should be to the right of every person you follow.
5. Tap on Unfollow when asked. This option will appear in a pop-up window. That way you will unfollow the chosen person.
6. Repeat this unfollowing procedure for each person you follow. When you're done, no one should be under the heading "following".
   • With some Instagram accounts - especially if you have a newer account - you will have to wait about an hour after unfollowing 200 people before continuing.

Method 2 of 2: Unfollow people on a computer with Windows or on a Mac

1. Go to the Instagram website. To do this, go to https://www.instagram.com/. If you are already logged in to Instagram on your computer, you will automatically end up on your news feed or the main page.
   • If you have not previously signed up, you will first need to enter your username (or your phone number) and your password to log into your account.
2. Click on the icon of your profile. This is the puppet icon in the top right corner of the main Instagram page. This will take you to your personal page.
3. Click on the heading "next". You'll find it at the bottom right of your username, which is at the top of your account page. You will then see a list of the people you are following at that moment.
   • There is a number before the heading "following". This number represents the number of people you are following.
4. Press the button Next to the right of an account name. You unfollow that person; you should see a blue button with the word To follow on it, where the button used to be Next was standing.
5. Repeat this unfollowing procedure for each account you are currently following. When you're done, no one should say "following" anymore.
   • Some Instagram accounts will ask you to wait about an hour after unfollowing 200 people before you can continue unfollowing.

Tips

• There are apps that allow you to unfollow a large number of people on Instagram at once, but you will usually have to pay for such services.

Warnings

• If you unfollow many users per hour, your account will be temporarily blocked and the number of people you can follow and unfollow per hour may be reduced to no more than a few per hour.
