We do know that everyone loves your brilliant, insightful and hilarious comments on Facebook. However, from time to time you will want to delete something that you have written, because there are spelling mistakes in it, because it is unkind, or because you have changed your mind. Follow the steps below to delete a comment on Facebook.

Method 1 of 3: Deleting your Facebook comments on a computer

1. Log in to Facebook on your computer.
2. Open your profile by clicking on your name in the top left corner of the page.
3. Click the Activity Log in the top right corner of your profile page.
4. Scroll to the comment you want to delete.
5. Hover your cursor over the comment you want to delete.
6. Click on the small pencil in the right corner, above the comment.
7. Select the option “Delete”.
8. Click on "Delete" to permanently delete the comment.

Method 2 of 3: Hide Facebook comments you wrote on others' timelines

1. Log in to Facebook on your computer.
2. Open your profile by clicking on your name in the left corner at the top of the page.
3. Scroll down your timeline to find the comment you want to delete.
4. Hover your cursor over the comment you want to delete. The option to “Hide” the comment appears if the post is posted to a friend's timeline, and the “Delete” option appears if the comment is posted to your own timeline.
5. Click on the X that appears in the top right corner to delete the comment.

Method 3 of 3: Delete comment from Facebook app on iPhone, Android or iPad

1. Launch the Facebook app on your device.
2. Open the main menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines with the text "More" in the bottom corner.
3. Tap your name to view your profile and timeline.
4. Find the Activity Log thumbnail.
   • Swipe your finger to the left to scroll through the menu at the top of your profile (with About, Photos, etc).
   • Tap the Activity Log thumbnail.
5. Scroll down your list of activities to find the comment you want to delete.
6. Tap the response with your finger.
7. Select the “Delete” option when the message appears.

Tips

• If the Facebook app on your tablet or smartphone does not allow you to delete a comment using the above method, log in to Facebook using a web browser on the device and follow the steps to delete a comment on a computer .
• If you want to explain to the person who commented why you deleted their comment, you can click on “Give feedback”, which will appear in place of the hidden comment.
• If you accidentally hide someone's comment, you can restore it by clicking “Show”. The button appears where the hidden comment had first appeared.
• You can also update responses on a computer by choosing the “Edit” option after clicking the pencil next to the responses in your timeline. This is a great way to correct a spelling mistake or fix another mistake without having to rewrite the entire comment.

Warnings

• Even if you have deleted or hidden a comment, it could still be that someone has already seen it. Be especially careful when commenting on Facebook or anywhere online to avoid leaving the wrong impression.
