This article will teach you how to install the Simple Poll app on Slack and how to create a poll on that channel using a browser on your desktop.

To step

  1. Open Simple Poll in your browser. Type simplepoll.rocks in the address bar and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
  2. Press the button Add to Slack. This button is in the middle of the page. You will now be asked to grant Simple Poll access to Slack.
    • If you are not automatically logged in to Slack in your browser, you will be asked to enter the address of your workplace and to log in with your e-mail address and password.
  3. Click on the green button Authorize. This will allow you to create and share polls in the selected workplace.
    • If you wish to use Simple Poll in another workplace, click on the icon Open Slack on your computer. You can use the desktop app Slack or log in to your workplace via Slack.com.
    • Select a channel on the left panel. Find the channel you want to use on the Channel List of your workplace and open it.
    • Type / poll "Question" "1" "2" in the message field. This command will allow you to create a simple poll with the Simple Poll app and share it with your contacts in the chat.
    • Replace Question by your real question within quotation marks. Delete Question within the quotation marks and enter your question for the poll.
    • Replace ’1’ and ’2’ with the options to reply. Remove the numbers within the quotation marks and enter some answer options for your poll.
      • You can add more answer options to your command line here.
    • Send the message to chat. Press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard to send the command line to the chat. This will automatically create your poll.
