Paint your nails as you normally do. When your nail is completely dry, paint your nails as you normally do. Try to apply only a thin layer of nail polish to your split nail, as there are already three coats of nail polish on that nail. It will also take longer for the polish on that nail to dry completely.

Warnings
- An alternative method of repairing a split nail is to apply a layer of nail glue first instead of clear nail polish. However, nail glue is very difficult to get off your nail and can also damage your nail. Transparent base nail polish acts as a kind of glue and is easy to remove.
