Gumtree is a free classifieds website for individuals located in the UK (www.gumtree.com.uk) and Australia (www.gumtree.com.au). To post an ad you must first become a registered user, choose your location, and post your content using the Gumtree ad form. Follow the steps below to post an official ad.

To step

1. Go to the official Gumtree website, http://www.gumtree.com/. If you are not yet a registered user, you will have to create an account to place an ad. This will also know your location.
2. Click the orange "Post an Ad" button located in the top right corner of your active session. If you are not logged in as a user, you will be redirected to a page where you need to log in or where you can create an account. Creating an account is easy and free.
3. Enter your email address and password on the Gumtree website, then click "Continue".
   • If you are not registered with Gumtree, click "No, I am new to Gumtree" and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.
4. Choose a section for your ad. For example, if you want to sell a product, click on "For sale".
5. Click on the subcategory in the left panel that best describes the nature of your ad. For example, if you sell garden tools, choose "Home and Garden".
6. Continue by clicking on the subcategories Gumtree offers you based on the nature of your ad. For example, if you have clicked on "Home and Garden" to sell garden tools, you will be asked to choose a specific category for your product, such as "Garden and Patio Furniture".
7. Click "Continue" when you've selected the subcategories for your ad.
8. Check your chosen categories and enter your zip code in the appropriate field.
9. In the "Ad Title" field, enter a title of 100 or more characters for your ad.
10. Enter the price for which you want to sell the product.
    • Depending on the category you have selected, the price field may not be available for some ads. For example, it is not required to enter a price for ads created to offer free products under the "Free" section.
11. Click on "Add Image" to upload photos you want to add to your listing. Photos can make your ad more viewed.
12. Enter a description for your ad in the "Description" field. The description should contain all necessary information about the nature of your ad. For example, if you are selling a smartphone, use the "Description" field to inform users about the condition, model and brand, key functions and color of the device.
13. Enter the contact information in the appropriate field. Based on your preference, users can contact you by email or phone.
14. Click on "Post my ad". Your ad will now be posted on the Gumtree website.
