The Kindle Fire is a product similar to the iPad released by Amazon in 2011. With the Kindle Fire you can not only download and read books, but you can also listen to music, surf the internet, or watch movies. There are a number of ways to download books to a Kindle Fire. If you want to know how to do this, follow these steps.

Method 1 of 3: Use the Amazon Store on your Kindle Fire

1. Go to your start menu. This is the page you will see by default when you turn on your Kindle. Remember, before you can download books to your Kindle, you need to connect it to Wi-Fi and register.
2. Select "Books'. This option is at the top of the screen, next to Newsstand and Music. This will take you to a "shelf" where all of your books that you have received or downloaded will appear.
3. Select "Store.’ You can find this option in the top right corner. It will have a small arrow pointing to the right.
4. Browse the books. View all available books in the Kindle store. You can browse by category such as "bestsellers" or "non-fiction" by tapping "Browse Books", or you can search for specific titles by typing the name of the book in the search bar.
   • You can also search for "free books" for a list of available free books.
5. Select the book. Tap the book and you'll be taken to a screen with the book's price, rating, cover, and description. If the book is available for rental, you will see a button with "Rent now with 1 click". If the book is available as a preview, you will see a button with "Try a preview". Trying an example first is a free and easy way to see if you want to read the rest of the book.
6. Tap on 'Buy it.’ If you are an Amazon Prime member, you are eligible for "Free Borrowing" if this is an available option. The "Buy" option charges the standard 1-click payment method to your Amazon.com account. Your item will then be downloaded to your Kindle Fire.
   • If you are not signed in, you may be asked to enter your username and password before continuing.
   • Wait for your book to finish downloading. Once it is done, you will see a "read now" button.
7. Read your new book. Click the "books" tab again and select the book to start reading.

Method 2 of 3: Use the Amazon Store on your computer

1. Go to www.amazon.com. This will take you to the Amazon homepage. If you've used the site on this computer before, you should be logged in. If not, enter your username and password. Keep in mind that you must have your Kindle Fire registered for this process to work.
2. Browse the books. Start browsing the books by typing the names of the books you are interested in in the search bar at the top of the screen, or by selecting 'Kindle' at the top of the screen and then browsing by category, such as 'Recommended for you,' bestsellers or books from different genres.
3. Select the book. Once you've made your selection, click on the book you want to download, which will take you to the page with various information about the book, such as ratings, reviews, and prices.
4. Select your device. Go to the bar at the top right of the screen and select your device under "Deliver to".
5. Click on 'Buy it. ’ You will see an orange button at the top right of the screen above your device. Once you click on this option, this item will be sent and delivered to your Kindle Fire.
6. Turn on your Kindle Fire.
7. Go to 'Books.’ Find the new book in your library. You can click on it and wait for it to finish downloading.
8. Enjoy your new book. Once you find the book and have finished downloading, you can start reading.

Method 3 of 3: Using a third-party site on your computer

1. Open your web browser.
2. Choose a book. Look for a free book available online. The 1-page version of the book is the easiest. You can also choose a book you've written or a book a friend emailed you. Make sure it is in PDF form.
3. Download the book in PDF format. If it is a Word document, convert it to a PDF after downloading it.
4. Save the file to your computer.
5. Connect your Kindle Fire to your computer. Remember to buy a separate USB cable for this.
6. Unlock your Kindle Fire screen.
7. Open your "Kindle" drive. On a PC you can find this under "Computer". On a Mac, it should be on your desktop.
8. Drag the file to your Kindle drive. Wait for it to finish transferring.
9. Unpair your Kindle. When you're done transferring the file, you can safely disconnect your Kindle.
10. Select "Documents" from your Kindle home page. You can find this option at the top of the screen.
11. Enjoy your book. Simply tap the book and start reading.
