Do you often receive calls from blocked numbers? Telemarketers, creditors, or even your ex can make sure you don't know who's calling you. If you are often harassed on the phone, you can regain control of your own phone by blocking these numbers.

Method 1 of 2: Mobile phone use

1. Call your provider. Ask about the possibilities with regard to blocking numbers. Many of these services cost just a few dollars a month and are billed monthly, but options vary by provider.
   • Not all services allow you to block unknown numbers, some only allow you to block known numbers.
2. Install a blocking app. If you are using an Android or iPhone, you can install apps that allow you to automatically block secret numbers. The most popular apps are Call Control (for Androids) and Call Bliss (for iPhones).
   • Call Control is an app for Android phones that allows you to automatically block all telemarketers and spam numbers. These numbers can be reported by customers and are then included in a database. You can also set your phone to private so that you can only receive calls from people you have in your contacts list.
   • Call Bliss is an app for iPhones that automatically mutes all unwanted calls making it easy to ignore calls from unknown numbers.
3. Use the do not disturb feature on the iPhone. This allows you to automatically mute all calls with the exception of the numbers that you have indicated that they are allowed to call you (e.g. family / friends). This feature is useful if you want to be able to ignore unknown callers, but the disadvantage of this is that you also cannot receive important messages from unknown numbers.
   • Go to "Settings" and tap "Do not disturb". "."
   • Select "Allow calls from" and then select "All contacts."
   • You can turn on the do not disturb function manually or turn it on by means of a schedule. The function will then only allow phone calls from people from your contact list. Any other track will be automatically muted.
4. Register yourself with a service such as TrapCall. You have to pay for these types of services, but they make it possible to force the caller to indicate where they are calling from. TrapCall is suitable for both iPhones and Android devices.

Method 2 of 2: Fixed phone use

1. Activate a service that will stop you from receiving calls from unknown numbers. These types of services are usually free if you have a number reporter. People who call from unknown numbers are then made clear that they can only call you from a known number.
   • If you use a service that blocks unknown numbers, you can enable or disable them by entering a number, contact your provider about this.
   • If you are unable to use the above option, please contact your provider.You may then have to pay more for your subscription, but you will receive a number reporting function with your current package.
2. Use TrapCall. Although this service has been developed for mobile phones, it can also be used for landline phones. You can add your home or office telephone to your TrapCall subscription.
   • Click on the "My Phones" button to add a landline number.
   • You may be able to set up a trap by calling your provider. Your provider may only cooperate if you can prove that you are being harassed, so make sure you have proof. This usually also costs money.

Tips

• If you receive threatening calls from a blocked number, you must notify your provider. If possible, you can also call in the police.
