This article will guide you on how to set up voicemail for the first time on Android.

Steps

1. 

   Open the Phone app section on Android. This option looks like a phone handset usually located at the bottom of the main screen.

   Press and hold the key 1 on the keyboard. If this is your first time setting up voicemail, you may see a message saying "No voicemail number is stored on the card." ("Voicemail number not set")
   • If the button dials to the voicemail service number, listen for prompts to complete the setup process.

   Press Add number (Add numbers.).

   Press Service (Service). This item is the first option on the list.

   Press My carrier (Home network).

   Press Setup (Setting). You should now see an area labeled “Voicemail number” with the value “Not set”.

   Press Voicemail number (Voicemail number).

   Enter your mobile phone number and tap OK. Now you are ready to set up your voicemail.

   Go back to the phone application. Try pressing the back button until you see the keyboard. If that doesn't work, tap the icon Phone (Phone) on the main screen.

10. 

    Press and hold the key 1 on the keyboard. This option will dial your voicemail number.

11. 

    Listen and follow the instructions to complete the process. The remaining steps vary by provider, but you will usually be asked to set up a greeting, create a password, and choose some playback settings.
    • To check your voicemail again, touch and hold the key 1 or tap the voicemail notification on the screen.
