This article will guide you on how to set up voicemail for the first time on Android.
Steps
- Open the Phone app section on Android. This option looks like a phone handset usually located at the bottom of the main screen.
Press and hold the key 1 on the keyboard. If this is your first time setting up voicemail, you may see a message saying "No voicemail number is stored on the card." ("Voicemail number not set")- If the button dials to the voicemail service number, listen for prompts to complete the setup process.
Press Add number (Add numbers.).- Press Service (Service). This item is the first option on the list.
Press My carrier (Home network).- Press Setup (Setting). You should now see an area labeled “Voicemail number” with the value “Not set”.
- Press Voicemail number (Voicemail number).
- Enter your mobile phone number and tap OK. Now you are ready to set up your voicemail.
- Go back to the phone application. Try pressing the back button until you see the keyboard. If that doesn't work, tap the icon Phone (Phone) on the main screen.
- Press and hold the key 1 on the keyboard. This option will dial your voicemail number.
- Listen and follow the instructions to complete the process. The remaining steps vary by provider, but you will usually be asked to set up a greeting, create a password, and choose some playback settings.
- To check your voicemail again, touch and hold the key 1 or tap the voicemail notification on the screen.
