This article will show you how to close recently launched or background apps for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Method 1 of 3: How to Close Recently Launched Apps on Galaxy S5 and Newer Models

1. 1 Click the Recent Apps button. It is located to the left of the Home key on the front of the device. The screen will display a list of all recently launched applications that are still running.
2. 2 Browse through the applications. Scroll through the list to find the apps you want to close.
3. 3 Swipe the tab. Swipe left or right on the tab of the selected app. This action allows you to close the running program.
   • You can also click X in the upper right corner of the app you want to close.
   • Click item Close all at the bottom of the screen to close all running applications at once.

Method 2 of 3: How to Close Recently Launched Apps on Galaxy S4

1. 1 Go to the home screen of your Samsung Galaxy device.
2. 2 Press and hold the Home button. The screen will display a list of all recently launched applications that are still running.
3. 3 Browse through the applications. Scroll through the list to find the apps you want to close.
4. 4 Swipe the tab. Swipe left or right on the tab of the selected app. This action allows you to close the running program.
   • Click item Close all in the lower right corner of the screen to close all running applications at once.

Method 3 of 3: How to Close Background Applications

1. 1 Go to the home screen of your Samsung Galaxy device.
2. 2 Open the "Task Manager" (application Smart Manager on Galaxy S7).
   • Galaxy S4: Press and hold the Home button. When the list of programs is displayed, press Task Manager in the lower left corner of the screen.
   • Galaxy S5-S6: Press the recent apps button. It is located to the left of the Home key on the front of the device. Click on Task Manager in the lower left corner of the screen.
   • Galaxy S7: Swipe down from the top of the screen. Click the icon ⚙️ at the top of the screen to open Settingsand then press Smart Manager and RAM.
3. 3 Click Finish. The button is located opposite the running application. Click on To complete for all the applications you need.
   • Click on Complete allto close all background applications at once.

• Before closing some applications, you need to make sure that all important data is saved, otherwise unsaved information will be lost when the program is closed.
