In this article, we will show you how to increase the number of Ethernet ports on your router (router). To do this, you need a network switch (switch).

1. 1 Buy a network switch. Wherein:
   • Make sure the switch has more ports than you need.
   • Make sure the switch is transmitting data at a rate that is equal to or faster than the data rate of the router. For example, if the router speed is 100 Mbps, the switch speed must be at least 100 Mbps. A slower switch will decrease your internet connection speed.
2. 2 Plug the switch into an electrical outlet. Do this with the cable that comes with the switch.
3. 3 Connect the switch to your router. To do this, plug the Ethernet cable into one of the ports on the router and into one of the ports on the switch. Some switches have a dedicated Uplink port to which the router connects. Other switches are equipped with a function thanks to which the router can be connected to any port of the switch.
4. 4 Connect your devices to the switch. To do this, use Ethernet cables. Since the switch is connected to a router, devices can be connected to the Internet.
   • If the speed of the switch is higher than the speed of the router, the devices connected to the switch will communicate faster with each other than with the Internet.
